Palazzo Valguarnera a Palermo
2021
Between about 1750 and 1765, during the Borbon government, a favorable political circumstance determined, in the Island’s capitol, an evident develop of construction activity linked to the aristocratic class. In that period, by means of substantial restructuring and in some cases new construction, the most monumental and artistically meaningful noble palaces of Palermo’s historical center were built, involving significant economic resources and the main architects and artists. The news projects, beyond the different choices, followed two main criteria: -the scenic exaltation of the sequence portal-atrium-courtyard-staircase arranged along the same axis; -the extension of the salons enfilade…

Agatha, Apollonia, Magdalene and Rosalia. The Restoration of four Paintings of the Mother Church in Partinico and Their enhancement
2019
The conservative intervention on four paintings preserved in the mother church of Partinico, in the province of Palermo, has allowed the recovery and enhancement of an important pictorial patrimony. The intervention, restoring the optimal conditions of the artifacts, has made possible the stylistic interpretation of the paintings, today referred to the environment of Neapolitan naturalism close to the classicist ways of Andrea Vaccaro.
Musica sbagliata
2020
Our paper examines the errors made by composers and book-makers in 16th- and 17th-century Italy. Errors made by composers were denounced by other composers, through the diffusion of written censures, or during public challenges in the presence of judges and witnesses. Errors made during the printing process can be found both in the paratext (forgotten or inverted letters and numbers in the title page) and in the text itself (omission of alterations or mistaken notes and words). Our paper ends with a discussion of errors and misunderstandings made by performers and listeners, including both those contemporary to the music, and others committed in modern performances of early music.

Verso una gestione sostenibile del patrimonio culturale e paesaggistico. Intuizioni dal progetto NEPTIS
2019
The attractiveness of a touristic area depends on the combination of "magnet resources" and other complementary resources. The authors applied the resource-based view approach to understand how a touristic district can enrich its attractiveness. Empirically, authors focus on the district of Sicilian Baroque. Authors also consider how informatics solutions - provided by NEPTIS Project - may increase the valorisation of magnet resources, such as the landscape and cultural heritage of the Baroque sites
2022
Today’s appearance of the church of Maria Santissima la Croce in Regalbuto is the result of interventions carried out during the last 300 years. The 19th century’s plaster decorations of the interiors hide the original structure of the 16th-century church. One of the “antiquities remainings” survived on the red carved stone arch upon the main apse. The study reveals that the model of the façade, completed in 1774, is the arch of Triumph for Porta dei Greci in Palermo, designed in 1735 by Nicolò Palma and known today thanks to an engraving by Antonino Bova. A document in the archive of the church of San Basilio demonstrates the process of the side façade design, which required reinforcement …
