In bladder exstrophy primary reconstruction remains the gold standard worldwide. Despite various types of osteotomies the permanent correction of pubic diastasis remains a challenge. In maxillofacial surgery callus distraction is a routine treatment for hypoplastic mandibles. Originally described by Ilizarov, this method provides stable and true bone lengthening after gradual distraction of an osteotomy site as long as the periosteum remains intact. A recent publication of fossil bones of titanosaurs assigned to Aeolosaurini from the Morro do Cambambe site (Mato Grosso state, Brazil, Upper Cretaceous) reported anomalous growth in some of them. Here, we present osteohistological sections of elements to understand not only the microstructure and growth of such bones, but also the nature of those anomalies. Background Primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT) is the most frequent endocrine hypersecretion disease, and parathyroidectomy is the only curative option, since pharmacologic therapy reduces hypercalcemia but does not impede parathyroid hormone hypersecretion. SPARC oppositely regulates inflammation and fibrosis in bleomycin-induced lung damage.

Fibrosis results from inflammatory tissue damage and impaired regeneration. In the context of bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis, we demonstrated that the matricellular protein termed secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC) distinctly regulates inflammation and collagen deposition, depending on its cellular origin. Reciprocal Sparc(-/-) and wild-type (WT) bone marrow chimeras revealed that SPARC expression in host fibroblasts is required and sufficient to induce collagen fibrosis in a proper inflammatory environment.
