Evaluation of fruit quality and antioxidant activity of kiwifruit during ripening and after storage

BACKGROUND: In the Northern hemisphere kiwifruit harvest time is conditioned by low temperatures occurring during the harvesting season while in Southern Italy minimum temperatures in autumn are high enough to support fruit growth and ripening. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the influence of delayed harvest time on kiwifruit quality attributes. METHODS: The experiment was carried out in a commercial kiwifruit, 'Hayward', orchard located in Southern Italy. ABSTRACTA long-term survey of tritrophic (plant–aphid–parasitoid) associations in the urban ecosystems of Lleida (Catalonia) and Paris (France) resulted in the detection of associations of two bamboo aphids, Takecallis arundinariae (Essig) and Takecallis taiwanus (Takahashi), respectively, with a new aphid parasitoid species. Trioxys remaudierei Starý & Rakhshani sp. nov. is described and illustrated as a unique parasitoid of Takecallis aphids outside the area of their origin. Taxonomic revision of Riella subgenus Trabutiella (Riellaceae, Sphaerocarpales)

The genus Riella (Riellaceae, Sphaerocarpales) includes some 24 species of thalloid aquatic liverworts with unique morphological and ecological features among hepatics. These include the development of sporophytes enclosed within involucres and growing submerged in seasonal fresh or brackish water ponds. Riella subgenus Trabutiella includes species with winged involucres. Seven taxa have been described, however, four to five taxa have been recognized at a time depending on authors. Climate signal age effects in boreal tree-rings: Lessons to be learned for paleoclimatic reconstructions

The resulting growth-climate response patterns are, however, often inconsistent and similar assessments using maximum latewood density (MXD) are still missing. Effect of Different Modified Atmosphere Packaging on the Quality of Mulberry Fruit (Morus alba L. cv Kokuso 21)

The control of temperature and gas composition is essential to maintain the fresh flavor and quality of perishable fruits like mulberry. This study presented a modified atmosphere experiment (MAP) for fresh fruit showing the potential benefits of innovative gas mixing with argon. The effects of MAP were studied on the physicochemical and qualitative attributes of mulberry preserved at4±1°C and90±5%R.H.
