Genetic variability at αs2-casein gene in Girgentana dairy goat breed

Casein genes are highly polymorphic and the high degree of variability has qualitative and quantitative effects on milk composition thereby affecting chemical, physical and technological properties of goat milk. The aim of this work was to evaluate the genetic polymorphisms of the αs2-casein (CSN1S2) gene in the endangered Girgentana dairy goat breed in order to assess the genotypes distribution, as it is known genotype influences technological and nutritional milk properties. Polymorphisms at β-defensin genes and mastitis in Valle del Belice dairy sheep: a case control study

Mastitis is the most common and costly pathology affecting dairy animals. The identification of genetic markers that allow the inclusion of mastitis resistance in selection programs would help to reduce the costs due to the disease and the use of antibiotics. In recent years, β-defensin genes have been studied in several domestic species due to their important role in the innate immune response. Search for the Decay of the Higgs Boson to Charm Quarks with the ATLAS Experiment

A direct search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying to a pair of charm quarks is presented. Associated production of the Higgs and Z bosons, in the decay mode ZH→ℓ+ℓ−c¯c is studied. A data set with an integrated luminosity of 36.1  fb−1 of pp collisions at √s=13TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC is used. The H→c¯c signature is identified using charm-tagging algorithms. The observed (expected) upper limit on σ(pp→ZH)×B(H→c¯c) is 2.7 (3.9+2.1−1.1) pb at the 95% confidence level for a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, while the standard model value is 26 fb.

Skutki braku ojca w życiu dziecka i możliwości ich przezwyciężania

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie przyczyn i skutków braku ojca w życiu dziecka oraz możliwości ich przezwyciężania. W części pierwszej autorka w oparciu o literaturę przedmiotu dokonuje próby definicji terminu „ojciec nieobecny”. W części drugiej autorka przedstawia przyczyny fizycznej i/lub emocjonalnej nieobecności ojca w życiu dziecka, do których zalicza między innymi śmierć ojca, rozwód i separację. W ostatniej, trzeciej części autorka wymienia i opisuje skutki braku ojca w życiu dziecka, które są różne u synów i u córek. Ponadto autorka wskazuje na możliwości przezwyciężania tych skutków.
