Integrated surveying techniques in cultural heritage documentation

This paper is focused on integration between laser scanning data, CAD modelling and photogrammetric data collected during the survey of one façade of the monument called “Quattro Canti” in the historic centre of Palermo. The investigation has been directed to the production of a 3D photorealistic model of the monument. The “Quattro Canti” monument is formed by four cylindrical façades facing the square where the older streets of Palermo intersect; each façade has a symbolic reference to one of the seasons and is divided in four levels. Non-linear effects, which depend essentially on the intensity of the electric field of the wave and the guide, are essential for the generation of pulse regimes in doped fiber lasers. The Kerr effect, which occurs regardless of the propagation and pumping energy, will generate the phenomenon of phase auto modulation (SPM), which will result in a spectral expansion. The SPM can also be seen in the interaction between the two waves that propagate along the slow and fast axes of the guide (XPM). Vezatin, a novel transmembrane protein, bridges myosin VIIA to the cadherin-catenins complex

International audience; Defects in myosin VIIA are responsible for deafness in the human and mouse. The role of this unconventional myosin in the sensory hair cells of the inner ear is not yet understood. Here we show that the C-terminal FERM domain of myosin VIIA binds to a novel transmembrane protein, vezatin, which we identi®ed by a yeast two-hybrid screen. Vezatin is a ubiquitous protein of adherens cell±cell junctions, where it interacts with both myosin VIIA and the cadherin±catenins complex. The aims of the present study were to explore the expression pattern of haem biosynthesis enzymes in circulating cells of patients affected by two types of porphyria (acute intermittent, AIP, and variegate porphyria, VP), together with the antioxidant enzyme pattern in AIP in order to identify a possible situation of oxidative stress. Sixteen and twelve patients affected by AIP and VP, respectively, were analysed with the same numbers of healthy matched controls. Coronary artery disease (CAD) has a significant genetic contribution that is incompletely characterized. To complement genome-wide association (GWA) studies, we conducted a large and systematic candidate gene study of CAD susceptibility, including analysis of many uncommon and functional variants. We examined 49,094 genetic variants in ∼2,100 genes of cardiovascular relevance, using a customised gene array in 15,596 CAD cases and 34,992 controls (11,202 cases and 30,733 controls of European descent; 4,394 cases and 4,259 controls of South Asian origin). Macaques dispersed out of Africa into Eurasia in the framework of a broader intercontinental faunal exchange that coincided in time with the sea level drop associated with the Messinian Salinity Crisis. They are first recorded in Europe (Italy and Spain) by the latest Miocene, being subsequently recorded all over Europe, albeit sparsely, throughout the Pliocene and Pleistocene. These fossil European macaques are attributed to several (sub)species of the extant Barbary macaque (Macaca sylvanus).
