Year 2019 marks the first anniversary of the renewal of the Most Holy Trinity Parish in Jaworzno near the town of Wieluń. This event was celebrated both by inhabitants and clergy on 15–16 June 2019. On that occasion, on Saturday on the 15th of June, a historical conference entitled “The Jubilee of the 100 years of the Most Holy Trinity Parish in Jaworzno near the town of Wieluń” was held. The conference led to produce the historical monograph of the Parish. Six people in eleven papers and memoirs dealt with the historical issues of the Parish in Jaworzno. After the shock of the ghastly revelations from the liberated concentration camps began to wane in late spring 1945, there was little written on the Nazi genocide in the Swedish press until autumn 1945. As elsewhere, the attention and energies of the newspaper media were directed to covering other tumultuous events of the world. This volume shows how communication matters in building our perception and imaginary about groups of people that are different form “us”. The difference between “us” and “others” is totally cultural and represents an obstacle to integration. To avoid the extreme effects of radicalisation, we can promote social campaigns based on two important features: participation and awareness about (counter-)narratives. This book discusses the good practices built in the European project Oltre, devoted to preventing the radicalisation in second generation Muslim youth. It will serve to push the reader beyond common sense and prejudice, towards the future citizenship of Italy, Europe and the whole world.
Comparison between topographic and photogrammetric techniques for deformation monitoring of the dome of the Massimo Theatre in Palermo

This paper shows the first results of a study aimed at monitoring the deformations of the dome of the Massimo Theatre in Palermo caused by thermal dilatations, with the use of topographic and photogrammetric integrated techniques. Particularly, two robotic total stations and high precision digital photogrammetric systems were employed. In order to correlate the displacements of the rollers on which the steel structure of the dome rest with the thermal gradients, different thermal images were acquired by a thermal imaging camera. L’articolo riporta i primi risultati di uno studio finalizzato al monitoraggio delle deformazioni della cupola del Teatro Massimo di Palermo provocate dalle dilatazioni termiche, con l’impiego di tecniche topografiche e fotogrammetriche integrate. In particolare, sono state utilizzate due stazioni totali robotizzate e sistemi di fotogrammetria digitale di elevata precisione. Per correlare gli spostamenti dei carrelli sui quali poggia la struttura in acciaio della cupola con i gradienti termici, sono state acquisite immagini termiche diversificate. Tīklenes attēlu analīze diabētiskās retinopātijas radīto tīklenes izmaiņu detektēšanai

Bakalaura darbs ir uzrakstīts angļu valodā uz 42 lappusēm. Tas satur 32 attēlus, 2 tabulas un 59 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis bija pārbaudīt, vai pastāv atšķirība starp vidējo pikseļu intensitāti fundusa attēlā, kurā redzama vesela tīklene, un attēlu ar diabētisku retinopātiju. Attēli tika ņemti no divām datu bāzēm, kurās kopumā bija 127 attēli bez patologijam un 129 attēli ar diabētiskās retinopātijas klātbūtni. Attēlu analīzei tika izmantota programma MATLAB. Pētījuma rezultāti parādīja, ka zilajam kanālam ir būtiska atšķirība, bet sarkanajam un zaļajam kanālam nav. Third-harmonic light polarization control in magnetically resonant silicon metasurfaces

Nonlinear metasurfaces have become prominent tools for controlling and engineering light at the nanoscale. Usually, the polarization of the total generated third harmonic is studied. However, diffraction orders may present different polarizations. Here, we design an high quality factor silicon metasurface for third harmonic generation and perform back focal plane imaging of the diffraction orders, which present a rich variety of polarization states. Our results demonstrate the possibility of tailoring the polarization of the generated nonlinear diffraction orders paving the way to a higher degree of wavefront control.
Wideband THz time domain spectroscopy based on optical rectification and electro-optic sampling

We present an analytical model describing the full electromagnetic propagation in a THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) system, from the THz pulses via Optical Rectification to the detection via Electro Optic-Sampling. While several investigations deal singularly with the many elements that constitute a THz-TDS, in our work we pay particular attention to the modelling of the time-frequency behaviour of all the stages which compose the experimental set-up.
