Conduit dynamics and post explosion degassing on Stromboli: A combined UV camera and numerical modeling treatment.

Abstract Recent gas flux measurements have shown that Strombolian explosions are often followed by periods of elevated flux, or “gas codas,” with durations of order a minute. Here we present UV camera data from 200 events recorded at Stromboli volcano to constrain the nature of these codas for the first time, providing estimates for combined explosion plus coda SO2 masses of ≈18–225 kg. Numerical simulations of gas slug ascent show that substantial proportions of the initial gas mass can be distributed into a train of “daughter bubbles” released from the base of the slug, which we suggest, generate the codas, on bursting at the surface. Medicinal and aromatic plants represent an outstanding source of green active ingredients for a broad range of real-world applications. In the present study, we investigated the insecticidal potential of the essential oils obtained from three medicinal and aromatic plants of economic importance in Algeria, Artemisia campestris, Pulicaria arabica, and Saccocalyx satureioides. This article reviews currently available literature on the role of Instagram in political communication and reports on the results of the analysis of 1976 Instagram posts of the most active politicians during the 2019 European parliamentary election campaign in Poland. With the aid of quantitative thematic analysis and qualitative visual rhetorical analysis, we identify the main patterns of self-representation of candidates and compare the forms of visualization and typical strategies of building ethos and mobilizing the voters across parties. Nel lavoro vengono presentati i risultati di uno studio sperimentale effettuato sul comportamento flessionale di due differenti essenze di legno: l’abete rosso ed il ciliegio. L’analisi viene effettuata sottoponendo il provino al test di flessione a quattro punti ed utilizzando la interferometria speckle, una tecnica di misura non a contatto ed a campo intero, che consente di ottenere i campi di spostamento e di deformazione sulla superficie del provino. The language of the novels of Andrea Camilleri is idiosyncratic, accreting onto Sicilian dialect like a saprophyte. However, the novels of Camilleri have had greater national literary success in Italy in the last 30 years. The first part of this text will attempt to explain the reasons for this cultural phenomenon, against the backdrop of the Italian linguistic panora- ma. The second part gathers together aspects of Camilleri’s prose, which shed light on the nature and origin of his literary expression.
