Background: Nowadays, the “gold standard” treatment for gallbladder stones is laparoscopic cholecystectomy but the risk of iatrogenic biliary duct injuries is increased compared to “open” surgery. Intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) can be useful to avoid biliary injuries but it can also be a no-safe procedure in center in which it is not routinely performed. SummaryLaparoscopic cholecystectomy offers many advantages, yet patients with a history of cardiopulmonary problems are at an increased risk because of the hemodynamic and respiratory effects of pneumoperitoneum. Between June 1990 and November 1997, a laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed on 31 high risk patients [American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) IV] and 40 conventional cholecystectomies were performed on patients with the same operative risk (ASA IV). A case of splenic rupture: A rare event after laparoscopic cholecystectomy

Background Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is generally safe and well-accepted. In rare cases, it is associated with complications (intra- e postoperative bleeding, visceral injury and surgical site infection). Splenic lesion has been reported only after direct trauma. We report an unusual case of splenic rupture presenting after “uncomplicated” LC. Case presentation A 77-year-old woman presented with distended abdomen, tenderness in the left upper quadrant and severe anemia 12 hours after LC. Clinical examination revealed hypovolemic shock. Tās izplatība pieaug līdz ar iedzīvotāju vecumu un mūsdienu dzīvesveida paradumiem, tādiem kā, nesabalansēts, neregulārs uzturs un mazkustīgs dzīvesveids. Šis bakalaura darbs tika izveidots ar mērķi - noskaidrot iedzīvotāju zināšanas par žultsakmeņu slimības attīstību veicinošajiem faktoriem un profilaksi.
