LoRa-Based Sensor Node Energy Consumption with Data Compression

In this paper simple temporal compression algorithms' efficiency to reduce LoRa-based sensor node energy consumption has been evaluated and measured. It is known that radio transmission is the most energy consuming operation in a wireless sensor node. In this paper three lightweight compression algorithms are implemented in an embedded LoRa platform to compress sensor data in on-line mode and the overall energy consumption is measured. Energy consumption is compared to the situation without implementing any compression algorithm. A Game Theory Approach and Tariff Strategy for Demand Side Management

Demand side management in smart grid environment with smart meters, renewable energy sources, different kind of consumers etc. is a complex problem. To optimize the problem game theory methodology is used. Game theory approach provide win-win situation between consumers and utilities. Objective of the paper is to find the Nash equilibrium between consumer and utility when utility is supplied through green energy sources. Mathematical modeling of consumption and utilization derived a Nash equilibrium point where consumer and utility both get maximum payoffs. Results shows that energy consumption cost is reduce by applying game theory approach.

Government consumption volatility and the size of nations

2016

This paper analyzes the relation between government consumption volatility and country size. Using an unbalanced sample of 160 countries from 1960 to 2010, it finds that smaller countries have more volatile government consumption. Moreover, while this relation is more negative for more volatile economies, there is also evidence that smaller countries have more volatile government consumption even controlling for the level of volatility in the economy.

Abstract This study investigated the association between the home food environment and the consumption frequency of raw and cooked vegetables, berries and fruit among 3–5-year-old children and their mothers and fathers. Raising environmental awareness through education

This paper presents a method for involving learners in awareness-raising and real changes in consumption. The described method is a teaching assignment comprising a self-audit of household chemicals' consumption, system thinking to find the main causes and consequences, finding solutions and taking action. Findings about students' household chemicals consumption patterns and their reactions one month and six months after the assignment are presented and analysed. Discretionary Government Consumption, Private Domestic Demand, and Crisis Episodes

2012

This paper analyzes the dynamic impact of discretionary government consumption purchases on private demand. Using a panel of 132 countries from 1960 to 2008, we find that while discretionary changes in government consumption lead to crowding-in effects in the short run, crowding-out effects take over in the medium run. In addition, we also find that both short-term crowding-in and mediumterm crowding out effects are amplified once we control for periods of crisis.

Modelling the energy costs of the wastewater treatment process: The influence of the aging factor.

Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are aging and its effects on the process are more evident as time goes by. Due to the deterioration of the facilities, the efficiency of the treatment process decreases gradually. Within this framework, this paper proves the increase in the energy consumption of the WWTPs with time, and finds differences among facilities size. Accordingly, the paper aims to develop a dynamic energy cost function capable of predicting the energy cost of the process in the future.
