Background  We report the rare case of an adult transsphenoidal meningoencephalocele and outline the microneurosurgical strategy. Clinical history, the findings of computerized tomography (CT) scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the microsurgical procedure, and histopathology are reported. Case Report  A 54-year-old female patient complained about cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) rhinorrhea; a transnasal biopsy of a mass in the maxillar sinus prior to diagnostic work-up was performed elsewhere. Malignant teratoma in Klippel-Feil syndrome: a case report and review of the literature

Introduction: Klippel-Feil syndrome is characterized by a congenital fusion of cervical vertebrae. Intracranial teratomas are nongerminomatous germ cell tumors and they account for 0.3 to 0.9% of all intracranial tumors. Teratomas with malignant transformation refer to lesions which give rise to malignant cancer of somatic type. The association between tumors of dermoid origin and Klippel-Feil malformation is extremely rare. Migraine and cranial autonomic symptoms in children and adolescents: a clinical study.

The frequency of cranial autonomic symptoms in children affected by primary headaches is uncertain. The aim of our study was to estimate the frequency of symptoms in pediatric headaches and correlate it with main migraine characteristics. A questionnaire investigating the presence of cranial autonomic symptoms was administered to all children with primary headache for 2 years. A total of 230 children with primary headache (105 males, 125 females) were included. Two hundred two children were affected by migraine and 28 (12.2%) by other primary headaches. A novel compound heterozygous mutation in PYGM gene associated with McArdle’s disease

McArdle's disease is an autosomal recessive glycogenosis due to mutation in the myophosphorylase gene (PYGM) resulting in a pure myopathy. The clinical onset typically occurs in childhood with cramps, myalgia, and intolerance to physical exercise, although late onset forms are also reported. We describe a case of a 17-year-old male complaining of cramps and myalgia following brief and intense exercise. The patient reported marked improvement in muscle fatigability few minutes after starting aerobic exercise. Experimental data 8 –11 and first clinical results in adults 12,13 suggest that hypertonic saline ( 1.0) may be highly effective in lowering ICP even when mannitol has lost its therapeutic potential after prolonged and repeated use.
