The Zinc-finger MBF1 factor is a transcription activator involved in the expression of the early histone genes during development of the sea urchin embryo (1). The DNA-binding domain of MBF1 shares high sequence similarity with that of the CTCF chromatin organizer but, unexpectedly, extensive in silico analysis failed to identify the sea urchin CTCF ortholog (2, 3). This led us to speculate that MBF1 could have co-opted the function of CTCF during evolution of the echinoderms. PURPOSE: To describe an original protocol for single slice spiral Computed Tomography (CT) virtual bronchoscopy in the evaluation of patients with central airway stenoses and compare the results with fibreoptic bronchoscopy. This study aimed to compare the volume of submandibular sialoliths determined by preoperative Cone-Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) scans with the volume of the removed stones on micro-Computer Tomography (micro-CT) scans. En este trabajo se analizan algunos de los obstáculos que están dificultando la implicación de diferentes sectores sociales en la adopción de las medidas necesarias para hacer frente a la actual situación de emergencia planetaria. En particular, analizamos la supuesta confrontación entre educación ambiental y educación para la sostenibilidad. Intentaremos mostrar que no existen razones para dicho antagonismo, sino que responde a malentendidos que es urgente deshacer, porque entorpecen la necesaria convergencia de esfuerzos para lograr una formación ciudadana que haga comprender la gravedad de la situación y prepare para participar en la toma de decisiones.
