Cel pracy. Celem prac była ocena wpływu stosowanej rehabilitacji u pensjonariuszek Domu Pomocy Społecznej na poziom sprawności i wydolności aerobowej. Materiał i metodyka. Przebadano 17 kobiet uczęszczających i 13 nieuczęszczających na zajęcia rehabilitacji. Przedział wieku badanych wynosił 80-84 lata. Do oceny wykorzystano test SPPB oraz 6-minutowy test marszu. Wyniki. Wszystkie badane cechy służące do oceny poziomu sprawności wydolności aerobowej różnią się istotnie między dwiema badanymi grupami. The present series of studies investigated changes in Finnish conscripts’ body composition, aerobic fitness and muscle endurance profiles during the last three decades. A second aim was to examine the effects of added endurance (ET) or strength training (ST) on cardiovascular and neuromuscular performance as well as hormonal responses of conscripts during an 8-week basic training (BT) period when compared to the current standardized (NT) programme. The essential oils from flowers, leaves and stems hydrodistilled from Pimpinella tragium Vill, subsp. glauca were characterised by GC and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis. The C-12 nor-sesquiterpenes are the principal class of metabolites (56.6-70.6%) among which geijerene (28.9÷49.3%) and pregeijerene (10÷19.1%) predominate. Antimicrobial and antioxidant activities were evaluated. The minimum inhibitory concentration values indicate that oil obtained from the stems is the most active for antimicrobial activities and the sample with the biggest antioxidant capacity is the flower oil.

A Cystoseira brachycarpa community from a vent area off Panarea Island (Italy) was investigated in two sites at different pH values. At low pH, species richness and coverage were low and the community displayed a reduced reproductive capacity. Conversely, at normal pH, dense canopies of fertile C. brachycarpa were found.
