First results of a European multi-center registry of patients with anorectal malformations.

Background: The European consortium on anorectal malformations (ARM-NET) was established to improve the health care of patients and to identify genetic and environmental risk factors. The aim of the present study was to present the first results on clinical data of a large European cohort of ARM patients based on our registry. Methods: In 2010, the registry was established including patient characteristics and data on diagnosis, surgical therapy, and outcome regarding complications. We investigated the ability of conventional sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) measures for predicting PSP in habitually snoring children.The dataset of Hannover Study on Sleep Apnea in Childhood (HASSAC), a large community-based study in primary school children, was retrospectively analyzed. Objective: Perilipin is a class of protein-coating lipid droplets in adipocytes and steroidogenic cells. Our purpose was to examine the association between common single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at the perilipin (PLIN) locus and obesity, as well as related phenotypes, in unrelated American adults. The incidence of the disease is higher in women than in men, and this cannot simply be attributed to the higher longevity of women versus men. One of the most studied life-history trade-offs is that resulting from the cost of reproduction: a trade-off arises when reproduction diverts limited resources from other life-history traits. We examine the cost of reproduction in male, and the effect of male mating status on female Callosobruchus maculatus seed beetles.
