Self-lubricating epoxide composites Kompozyty epoksydowe o właściwościach samosmarujących

2015

A com. epoxy resin was modified by addn. of aliph. polyamine, graphite, a poly-α-olefin oil and phosphate fire retardant, cured at 130°C and studied for friction coeff. in contact with steel, heat resistance and mech. strength. The addn. of graphite resulted in a decrease in the resin hardness, impact strength and friction coeff.

Refractive Indices and Deviations in Refractive Indices of Trifluoromethanesulfonate-Based Ionic Liquids in Water

2011

Refractive indices were determined for four different ionic liquid + water binary systems, from (288.15 to 338.15) K, and covering the entire composition range. The four ionic liquids used were 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate, 3-butyl-1-ethylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate, 3-butyl-1-methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate, and 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium trifluoromethanesulfonate, all of them being completely miscible in water. From the experimental data, deviations in refractive indices, defined on a volume fraction basis, have been calculated and fitted to an extended version of the Redlich–Kister equation. The behavior of the deviations in refractive in…

Three independent channel nanohybrids as fluorescent probes

2015

A properly designed pyrene-capped CdSe/ZnS nanohybrid can act as a three-channel fluorescent sensor due to the independent emission of the pyrene monomer and excimer as well as that of the nanoparticle. As proof of principle, it was tested for a simple and rapid quantification of TNT in the presence of interferents of the same chemical family.

Assembly of iron oxide nanosheets at the air-water interface by leucine-histidine peptides

2021

The fabrication of inorganic nanomaterials is important for a wide range of disciplines. While many purely inorganic synthetic routes have enabled a manifold of nanostructures under well-controlled conditions, organisms have the ability to synthesize structures under ambient conditions. For example, magnetotactic bacteria, can synthesize tiny ‘compass needles’ of magnetite (Fe3O4). Here, we demonstrate the bio-inspired synthesis of extended, self-supporting, nanometer-thin sheets of iron oxide at the water–air interface through self-assembly using small histidine-rich peptides.

Organocatalytic enantioselective aza-Friedel–Crafts reaction of 2-naphthols with benzoxathiazine 2,2-dioxides

2015

An organocatalytic enantioselective aza-Friedel–Crafts addition of 2-naphthols to benzoxathiazine 2,2-dioxides is described using a quinine-derived bifunctional catalyst. The method allows the use of a wide range of aromatic compounds as nucleophiles, including 1-naphthol and sesamol, and benzoxathiazines 2,2-dioxides, expanding the existing state of the art enantioselective synthesis of aminomethylnaphthol derivatives.

CO2 switchable nanoparticles: reversible water/organic-phase exchange of gold nanoparticles by gas bubbling

2013

Gold nanoparticles capped with oleylamine can be effectively transferred from an organic solvent to water in the presence of an acetamidine surfactant by CO2 bubbling and then effectively reverted back to the organic phase by N2 bubbling.

Isobaric Vapor−Liquid Equilibria for Binary and Ternary Mixtures with Cyclohexane, Cyclohexene, and 2-Methoxyethanol at 100 kPa

2009

Consistent vapor−liquid equilibria (VLE) data at 100 kPa have been determined for the ternary system cyclohexane + cyclohexene + 2-methoxyethanol and two constituent binary systems: cyclohexane + 2-methoxyethanol and cyclohexene + 2-methoxyethanol. Both binary systems deviate remarkably from ideal behavior presenting a minimum boiling point azeotrope. The VLE data have been correlated by the Wilson, UNIQUAC, and NRTL equations. The ternary system does not present an azeotrope and is well predicted from binary interaction parameters. Prediction with the UNIFAC method has been also obtained.

Sunlight-induced reactions of some heterocyclic bases with ethers in the presence of TiO2

2005

The reactions between various heterocyclic bases and ethers induced by sunlight are reported. In several cases the photoreaction occurred with higher yields in liquid–solid heterogeneous system in the presence of polycrystalline TiO2 than in homogeneous system. The derivatives obtained with trioxane may give an easy entry to heterocyclic aldehydes.
