Natural Realism and Physics are two ways of relating to our material world. This article provides some basic characteristics of both and derives two joined reasons why Physics is, partially, at odds with Natural Realism. The first reason consists in that present-day Physics is based on models of reality which involve several severe methodical reductionisms. From that derives the second reason, which is the difference of epistemological climates of Natural Realism and Physics. The difference is that the intelligibility of material things is esteemed low in Physics and high in Natural Realism. Natürlicher Realismus und Physik sind zwei Arten, unsere materielle Welt zu verstehen. In diesem Artikel werden einige grundlegende Merkmale beider Arten dargelegt und daraus zwei verbundene Gründe abgeleitet, weshalb die Physik teilweise im Widerspruch zum natürlichen Realismus steht. The article is an attempt to answer the question about the relation between tradition and the development of theological cognition. The church from the first centuries was aware that allegiance to the council tenets exceeds a technical repetition of council`s formulas. It is clear that a belief in dogma assumes openness to both the past and the future.In the article two approaches to tradition are criticized: archeological and enthusiastic. In the last years the Missione Archeologica Italiana di Hierapolis di Frigia (MAIER) has recovered some important epigraphic documents which offer new data for the history of the city of Hierapolis, its bishopric, and the surrounding territory in Late Antiquity (4th-6th cent.). The most recently published inscriptions are discussed in this paper in their historical context (parr. 1-3) and the development of Hierapolis’ bishopric and its episcopal prosopography between the 4th and the 9th cent. are analyzed through the examination of literary and epigraphical sources and the comparison with other relevant cities of Western Asia Minor (par. 4.a-f).
