Discovering the h→Zγ decay in tt¯ associated production

We explore the prospects to discover the $h \to Z \gamma$ decay in $t\bar t$-associated production, featuring a signal-to-background ratio of ${\cal O}(1)$. Performing a detailed analysis of the semi-leptonic $t \bar t $-decay channel, we demonstrate that the production mode could lead to a $\sim5\,\sigma$ discovery at the high-luminosity LHC, while the effective $h Z \gamma$ coupling could be extracted with a $\sim15\,\%$ accuracy. Extending the analysis to potential future $pp$ colliders with 27 TeV and 100 TeV center-of-mass energies, we also show that the latter would allow precision measurements at the few percent level, rendering possible precise extractions of the spin and CP propert…
Search for the Higgs Boson in theH→WW→lνjjDecay Channel inppCollisions ats=7 TeVwith the ATLAS Detector

A search for a Higgs boson has been performed in the H -> WW -> l nu jj channel in 1.04 fb(-1) of pp collision data at root s = 7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess of events is observed over the expected background and limits on the Higgs boson production cross section are derived for a Higgs boson mass in the range 240 GeV WW production is 3.1 pb, or 2.7 times the standard model prediction.
Monte Carlo techniques in small-x physics: Formal studies and phenomenology

We discuss the solution to the BFKL equation in the adjoint representation at LO and NLO accuracy for the N = 4 SUSY theory. We use Monte Carlo techniques to study numerically the Gluon Green’s function at LO and NLO directly written in the transverse momentum space which allows for the factorization of its infrared divergencies. Finally, we discuss the applicability of our approach to phenomenological searches for the BKP Odderon at the LHC.
Search for Structure in theBs0π±Invariant Mass Spectrum

The $B_s^0\pi^\pm$ invariant mass distribution is investigated in order to search for possible exotic meson states. The analysis is based on a data sample recorded with the LHCb detector corresponding to $3$ fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data at $\sqrt{s} = 7$ and $8$ TeV. No significant excess is found, and upper limits are set on the production rate of the claimed $X(5568)$ state. Upper limits are also set as a function of the mass and width of a possible exotic meson decaying to the $B_s^0\pi^\pm$ final state.
Search for direct stau production in events with two hadronic τ -leptons in s=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

A search for the direct production of the supersymmetric partners of τ -leptons (staus) in final states with two hadronically decaying τ -leptons is presented. The analysis uses a dataset of p p collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb − 1 , recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. No significant deviation from the expected Standard Model background is observed. Limits are derived in scenarios of direct production of stau pairs with each stau decaying into the stable lightest neutralino and one τ -lepton in simplified models where the two stau mass eigenstates are degenerate. Charged-Particle Multiplicity Density at Midrapidity in Central Pb-Pb Collisions atsNN=2.76 TeV

The first measurement of the charged-particle multiplicity density at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV is presented. For an event sample corresponding to the most central 5% of the hadronic cross section, the pseudorapidity density of primary charged particles at midrapidity is 1584 +/- 4(stat) +/- 76(syst), which corresponds to 8.3 +/- 0.4(syst) per participating nucleon pair. This represents an increase of about a factor 1.9 relative to pp collisions at similar collision energies, and about a factor 2.2 to central Au-Au collisions at root s(NN) = 0.2 TeV. Azimuthally Differential Pion Femtoscopy in Pb-Pb Collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV

We present the first azimuthally differential measurements of the pion source size relative to the second harmonic event plane in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon pair of √sNN = 2.76 TeV. The measurements have been performed in the centrality range 0%-50% and for pion pair transverse momenta 0.2 < kT < 0.7 GeV/c. We find that the Rside and Rout radii, which characterize the pion source size in the directions perpendicular and parallel to the pion transverse momentum, oscillate out of phase, similar to what was observed at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Exposing the dark sector with future Z factories

We investigate the prospects of searching dark sector models via exotic Z-boson decay at future e⁺e⁻ colliders with Giga Z and Tera Z options. Four general categories of dark sector models, Higgs portal dark matter, vector-portal dark matter, inelastic dark matter, and axionlike particles, are considered. Focusing on channels motivated by the dark sector models, we carry out a model-independent study of the sensitivities of Z factories in probing exotic decays. The limits on branching ratios of the exotic Z decay are typically O(10⁻⁶–10⁻[superscript 8.5]) for the Giga Z and O(10⁻[superscript 7.5]–10⁻¹¹) for the Tera Z, and they are compared with the projection for the high luminosity LHC. The first LHC run has confirmed the Standard Model as the correct theory at the electroweak scale, and the existence of a Higgs-like particle associated with the spontaneous breaking of the electroweak gauge symmetry.
