EFFECTS OF COLORED NOISE IN SHORT OVERDAMPED JOSEPHSON JUNCTION
2008
We investigate the transient dynamics of a short overdamped Josephson junction with a periodic driving signal in the presence of colored noise. We analyze noise induced henomena, specifically resonant activation and noise enhanced stability. We find that the positions both of the minimum of RA and maximum of NES depend on the value of the noise correlation time tau_c. Moreover, in the range where RA is observed, we find a non-monotonic behavior of the mean switching time as a function of the correlation time tau_c.
Noise induced effects in overdamped Josephson junction in the presence of colored noise
2007
We analyze the role of the correlated fluctuations, with a correlation time τc, in the dynamics of an overdamped Josephson junction in the presence of a periodic driving signal.
Charge Radii of Hyperons
1994
The momentum projected SU(3) Chiral Color Dielectric Model (CCDM) is employed to calculate the charge root mean square radii and charge distributions of hyperons. We compare our result with Skyrme, MIT bag and Cloudy Bag model results. The charge distribution of $\Lambda$ in CCDM is similar to that of Skyrme Model prediction.
Monochromatic neutrino beams
2005
In the last few years spectacular results have been achieved with the demonstration of non vanishing neutrino masses and flavour mixing. The ultimate goal is the understanding of the origin of these properties from new physics. In this road, the last unknown mixing [U-e3] must be determined. If it is proved to be non-zero, the possibility is open for Charge Conjugation-Parity (CP) violation in the lepton sector. This will require precision experiments with a very intense neutrino source. Here a novel method to create a monochromatic neutrino beam, an old dream for neutrino physics, is proposed based on the recent discovery of nuclei that decay fast through electron capture. Such nuclei will…
Search for new physics in the dijet mass distribution using 1 fb−1 of pp collision data at s=7 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector
2012
Invariant mass distributions of jet pairs (dijets) produced in LHC proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy root s = 7 TeV have been studied using a data set corresponding to an integrat ...
Response of BGO detectors to photons of 3–50 MeV energy
1993
Abstract The response of an array of 7 hexagonal BGO detectors each 7.5 cm long (6.7 radiation lengths) with 3.6 cm side-to-side distance was measured using monochromatic photons from the tagged-photon facility at the electron accelerator MAMI A at Mainz. The experimental spectra of the deposited energy for a single detector and for the array of seven modules compare very well with the predictions of Monte Carlo shower simulations using the code GEANT3. Significant improvement of the energy resolution is observed for the summed energy spectra compared to the resolution of a single module. This improvement deteriorates at higher photon energies because the length of the detector is not suffi…
Digital performance improvements of a CdTe pixel detector for high flux energy-resolved X-ray imaging
2015
Abstract Photon counting detectors with energy resolving capabilities are desired for high flux X-ray imaging. In this work, we present the performance of a pixelated Schottky Al/p-CdTe/Pt detector (4×4) coupled to a custom-designed digital readout electronics for high flux measurements. The detector (4×4×2 mm 3 ) has an anode layout based on an array of 16 pixels with a geometric pitch of 1 mm (pixel size of 0.6 mm). The 4-channel readout electronics is able to continuously digitize and process the signals from each pixel, performing multi-parameter analysis (event arrival time, pulse shape, pulse height, pulse time width, etc.) even at high fluxes and at different throughput and energy re…
Total photofission cross section for 238U as a substitute for the photon absorption cross section in the energy range of the first baryon resonances
1992
Abstract The total photofission cross section σγ, F for 238U has been measured as a substitute for the total photon absorption cross section σtot in the energy range of the first baryon resonances (50⩽Eγ⩽800 MeV). The experiments were performed at the tagging facility of the new 855 MeV Mainz Microton MAMI B using monochromatic photons and a sophisticated 4π-arrangement of position sensitive fragment detectors. The measured cross section agrees in the Δ-resonance region with previous results and the so-called universal curve αtot/A. In the energy region of the D13-resonance near 710 MeV resonancelike structure could be observed as is seen for the free proton.
Continuously Variable Periodic Test Target

CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE PERIODIC TEST TARGETP. ANDRES*, J. OJEDA- CASTANEDAt, and J.C. BARREIRO*tINAOE, Apartado Postal 216, 72000 Puebla, Pue., Mexico*Departamento de Optica, Universidad de Valencia, 46100 Burjasot, Spain1. INTRODUCTIONThe modulus of the optical transfer function (MTF) of the eye or any other optical system is usuallyevaluated by imaging either several gratings each with different spatial frequency, or a single test tar-get having patterns with different frequencies (USAF resolution chart). In any of these two usual proce-dures, the measurement of the MTF is made at discrete values of the spatial frequency. Here we describe a method based on the self -imaging phenomenon for p…
Radiative recombination in the presence of a few cycle laser pulse.
2009
We have investigated the laser-assisted radiative recombination in the presence of a few-cycle pulse with the aim of demonstrating means of controlling such process. Within the Coulomb-Volkov approach already employed to describe the radiative recombination assisted by a monochromatic laser field, we have found that the emitted photon spectrum is affected by both the cycle number nc and the carrier-envelope relative phase phi . In particular, it has been shown that the minimum and the maximum values of the emitted photon energy may be controlled by varying nc and phi . Finally, it has been found that the enhancement of radiative recombination occurring in the presence of a monochromatic fie…
