Long-term sealing ability of GuttaFlow versus Ah Plus using different obturation techniques.

2010

Objective. To compare the long-term sealing ability of GuttaFlow® using different obturation techniques. Study Design. Three hundred teeth, prepared with a crown-down technique, were divided into thirty experimental groups (n=10) to evaluate the apical and coronal leakage, at 3, 30 and 120 days, of lateral compaction gutta-percha + AH Plus?, lateral compaction gutta-percha + GuttaFlow®, single cone + AH Plus?, single cone + GuttaFlow®, and GuttaFlow® only. Results. Both coronal and apical leakage, at the three times of measurement, no significant differences were found among GuttaFlow® + lateral compaction gutta-percha and GuttaFlow® + single cone groups, whereas the only GuttaFlow® reached…

Hybrid density functional theoretical study of NASICON-type NaxTi2(PO4)3 (x = 1–4)

2020

Sodium Super Ionic Conductor (NASICON) structured phosphate framework compounds represent a very attractive class of materials for their use as Na-ion battery electrodes. A series of NASICON-structured NaxTi2(PO4)3 compounds corresponding to varying degrees of sodiation (x = 1–4) have been investigated using high-level hybrid density functional theory calculations using the Linear Combination of Atomic Orbitals and Gaussian-type basis set formalism together with hybrid B1WC and HSE06 exchange–correlation functionals. Using primitive cells of NaxTi2(PO4)3 compounds with different stoichiometry, sodium sublattice structure and titanium oxidation states are constructed and analyzed using group…

A bilateral convergent bounding technique for plastic deformations

1990

For the class of elastic perfectly plastic discrete structures, subjected to a dynamic loading history, a bilateral bounding technique for plastic deformations has been studied. The computation of the bound is founded on the concept that to obtain it, any history of fictitious plastic deformations can be used, if only admissible. Such history is obtained by solving a sequence of linear programming problems (LPPs) with a multiple step compared to the step of the sequence of the quadratic programming problems (QPPs) adopting in the classic elasto-plastic analysis. The constraints of the LPPs coincide with the constraints of the QPPs, while the objective function is a linear combination of var…

Calculation of cost-optimal combination of building materials and technical systems for nZEB single-family house using global cost calculation method

2019

As a rule, during the design stage of a single-family house, only initial costs are taken into account and optimised. Long-term financial calculations are usually not even made. At the same time, total costs to design, build and operate the building show a real difference in expenses while living in this house. In the case of nearly zero energy buildings (nZEBs), this global cost approach becomes especially useful because of the strict requirements of heating and primary energy, as well as the compulsory use of renewable energy sources, requiring more detailed and comprehensive calculations of a cost-optimal set of solutions. In this study, a nZEB single-family house is analysed in detail u…

Milrinone is preferred to levosimendan for mesenteric perfusion in hypoxia-reoxygenated newborn piglets treated with dopamine

2012

INTRODUCTION There is little information regarding the comparative hemodynamic effects of adding milrinone or levosimendan to dopamine infusion in hypoxia-reoxygenated (H-R) newborns. RESULTS Severely hypoxic piglets had cardiogenic shock with depressed cardiac index (CI) and mean arterial pressure (MAP). The hemodynamics deteriorated gradually after initial recovery upon reoxygenation. Heart rate and CI improved with milrinone (D+M) and levosimendan (D+L) administration (P < 0.05 vs. control). Both regimens improved carotid arterial flow and carotid vascular resistance; D+M additionally improved superior mesentric arterial flow (all P < 0.05 vs. control). No effect was found on renal arter…

Fractional differential equations and related exact mechanical models

2013

Creep and relaxation tests, performed on various materials like polymers, rubbers and so on are well-fitted by power-laws with exponent β ∈ [0, 1] (Nutting (1921), Di Paola et al. (2011)). The consequence of this observation is that the stress-strain relation of hereditary materials is ruled by fractional operators (Scott Blair (1947), Slonimsky (1961)). A large amount of researches have been performed in the second part of the last century with the aim to connect constitutive fractional relations with some mechanical models by means of fractance trees and ladders (see Podlubny (1999)). Recently, Di Paola and Zingales (2012) proposed a mechanical model that corresponds to fractional stress-…

Efficacy in angiotensin receptor blockade: a comparative review of data with olmesartan

2009

A range of angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB) is available, and analyses suggest there are differences between agents in terms of antihypertensive efficacy and 24-hour blood pressure control. This review assesses the data comparing olmesartan with other ARBs in terms of blood pressure reductions, goal achievement, 24-hour control and speed of onset. Olmesartan seems to have a more favourable efficacy profile relative to standard doses of the ARBs used in comparative studies; results consistent with the high degree of blockade of the angiotensin II type 1 receptor for olmesartan.Taken together, there might be differences between ARBs regarding their blood pressure lowering efficacy, and …

Anthropometric and pharmacotherapeutic variables on acute emesis induced by cisplatin-containing chemotherapy.

2000

OBJECTIVE: To characterize the effects of anthropometric and pharmacotherapeutic variables on acute emesis induced by cisplatin-containing regimens with dosages ·50 mg·m−2. METHODS: A prospective, cross-sectional, noncontrolled study was performed to analyze acute vomiting during the first 24 hours in patients treated in a Spanish hospital. The patients received an intravenous combination of drugs (2 doses of metoclopramide 3 mg/kg, dexamethasone 20 mg) as first-choice antiemetic therapy. Intravenous ondansetron 8 mg and dexamethasone 20 mg served as an alternative regimen in patients <30 years old with a history of extrapyramidal manifestations or emesis in previous cycles. Therapeutic …

Contribution of outgrowth endothelial cells from human peripheral blood on in vivo vascularization of bone tissue engineered constructs based on star…

2009

In the present study we assessed the potential of human outgrowth endothelial cells (OEC), a subpopulation within endothelial progenitor cell cultures, to support the vascularization of a complex tissue engineered construct for bone. OEC cultured on starch polycaprolactone fiber meshes (SPCL) in monoculture retained their endothelial functionality and responded to angiogenic stimulation by VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) in fibrin gel-assays in vitro. Co-culture of OEC with human primary osteoblasts (pOB) on SPCL, induced an angiogenic activation of OEC towards microvessel-like structures achieved without additional supplementation with angiogenic growth factors. Effects of co-cul…
