Lessons learned on student engagement from the nature of pervasive socio‐digital interests and related network participation of adolescents

The rise of modern socio-digital technologies has fundamentally changed the everyday environments in which young people communicate with each other and cultivate interests. To gain a more sophisticated understanding of this phenomenon, this study provides in-depth, qualitative insights into adolescents’ experiences of their socio-digital developmental ecologies. The 15 interview participants were recruited based on a previously conducted questionnaire. Asymmetrical interspecific communication in avian mixed species colonies

Sympatric species derive benefits by attending to information conveyed by heterospecifics. We previously reported reduced vigilance among jackdaws (Corvus monedula) and lesser kestrels (Falco numanni) residing in mixed species colonies and conducted the present study to test for interspecific communication of threat associated with European magpies (Pica pica) as nest predators. This study examines how disability service workers identify the discourses of the client-worker relationships. We studied the clientworker relationship from the perspective of the relational dialectics theory with a focus on relational contradictions and the meanings created within discursive struggles. Student experiences of critical multilingual and intercultural communication competence assessment in higher education

In this chapter, we present multilingual and intercultural communication competence (MICC) as a situational and contextual process. The aim of this qualitative, empirical study is to understand the students’ perceptions of assessing MICC as a holistic phenomenon that does not represent an ethnocentric world view and considers the role of language use in interaction.
