Towards a learning community: understanding teachers’ mental models to support their professional development and learning

Amidst societal, demographic and educational changes, teachers are expected to engage in professional development and learning (PDL) throughout their careers. This study explores school teachers’ mental models about their work in the framework of Senge’s learning organisation, aiming to support their PDL during curriculum reform and organisational changes. The study’s data comprise 41 semi-structured interviews with each teacher in one school community. These interviews were analysed using qualitative, data-driven yet theory-informed content analysis. Parliamentarisation is a distinct strategy of politicisation. In this chapter, parliament refers to a certain procedural and institutional ideal type of acting politically. The response to projected increase in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) loading to boreal lakes is being studied in lake Alinen Mustajärvi, a small humic lake in southern Finland, where labile DOC concentration has been artificially increased during 2008 and 2009 by monthly additions of cane sugar. As part of this wider project, in this thesis the responses of the zooplankton community to cane sugar addition were studied. Zooplankton samples were collected monthly in the ice-free periods of 2007, 2008 and 2009 and the mean densities and mean carbon biomasses of rotifers and crustacean zooplankton (cladocerans and copepods) were calculated. Standardy profilaktyki zachowań ryzykownych wytyczają ramy jakości oddziaływań zapobiegawczych. Głównym celem wytyczania standardów jest maksymalizacja skuteczności zamierzeń profilaktycznych. Profilaktyka w środowisku otwartym i profilaktyka szkolna mają odmienne standardy, jednak głównymi założeniami wspólnymi dla obu praktyk jest obecność najważniejszych standardów - diagnozy oraz ewaluacji.
