TEACHING AND LEARNING MATHEMATICS: RESOURCES AND OBSTACLES - ENSEIGNER ET APPRENDRE LES MATHEMATIQUES: RESSOURCES ET OBSTACLES. Actes/Proceedings CIE…
2015
The CIEAEM 67 conference was held in Aosta, Italy, from 21st to 24th July 2015 and successfully involved more than 120 participants from all over the world. Researchers, teachers, educators, and students from 20 countries (10 non-European) met to discuss, in a collaborative and inspiring environment, the most prominent problems, obstacles and resources in mathematics education; they also presented their latest research findings in the several conference activities: plenary talks, a round table, working groups, workshops, and poster presentations (forum of ideas). As in previous CIEAEM meetings, Working Groups constituted the beating heart of the conference, allowing the participants to frui…

An Iterative Method for Pricing American Options Under Jump-Diffusion Models
2011
We propose an iterative method for pricing American options under jump-diffusion models. A finite difference discretization is performed on the partial integro-differential equation, and the American option pricing problem is formulated as a linear complementarity problem (LCP). Jump-diffusion models include an integral term, which causes the resulting system to be dense. We propose an iteration to solve the LCPs efficiently and prove its convergence. Numerical examples with Kou's and Merton's jump-diffusion models show that the resulting iteration converges rapidly.
A Projected Algebraic Multigrid Method for Linear Complementarity Problems
2011
We present an algebraic version of an iterative multigrid method for obstacle problems, called projected algebraic multigrid (PAMG) here. We show that classical AMG algorithms can easily be extended to deal with this kind of problem. This paves the way for efficient multigrid solution of obstacle problems with partial differential equations arising, for example, in financial engineering.

MATHEMATISATION: SOCIAL PROCESS & DIDACTIC PRINCIPLE
2017
The 69th CIEAEM conference was held from 15th to 19th July 2017 at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. It successfully involved 100 participants from 20 countries all over the world. CIEAEM 69 was dedicated to Professor Christine Keitel, president of CIEAEM from 1997 to 2003, who tragically passed away one year before the conference. The programme of the conference started with a panel that revisited “Mathematics (Education) and Common Sense”, the theme of the 47th CIEAEM conference, which was held in Berlin in July 1995 and which was hosted by Christine. At the conference, researchers, teachers, educators, and students met to discuss, in a collaborative and inspiring environment, the most p…
Introduction of the JME Special Issue: Research on Classroom Practice at Primary Level
2022
In July 2021, the ICME 14 took place in Shanghai, China, as a hybrid event; a thematic focus of this international conference was the TSG 36 Research on Classroom Practice at Primary Level under the leadership of Shuhua An. The aim of this TSG is to share and discuss, at an international level, a wide variety of experiences of teaching and learning mathematics in the classroom (An et al., 2022). According to this aim the TSG 36 explored state-of-the-art strategies and approaches to address the concerns and problems, and advance the research on classroom practice with an ultimate goal of supporting it.
