Hypergraph imaging: an overview
2002
Hypergraph theory as originally developed by Berge (Hypergraphe, Dunod, Paris, 1987) is a theory of finite combinatorial sets, modeling lot of problems of operational research and combinatorial optimization. This framework turns out to be very interesting for many other applications, in particular for computer vision. In this paper, we are going to survey the relationship between combinatorial sets and image processing. More precisely, we propose an overview of different applications from image hypergraph models to image analysis. It mainly focuses on the combinatorial representation of an image and shows the effectiveness of this approach to low level image processing; in particular to seg…
Interval Length Analysis in Multi Layer Model
2009
In this paper we present an hypothesis test of randomness based on the probability density function of the symmetrized Kulback-Leibler distance estimated, via a Monte Carlo simulation, by the distributions of the interval lengths detected using the Multi-Layer Model (MLM). The $MLM$ is based on the generation of several sub-samples of an input signal; in particular a set of optimal cut-set thresholds are applied to the data to detect signal properties. In this sense MLM is a general pattern detection method and it can be considered a preprocessing tool for pattern discovery. At the present the test has been evaluated on simulated signals which respect a particular tiled microarray approach …
Robust H∞ filtering for networked control systems with markovian jumps and packet dropouts
2014
Published version of an article in the journal: Modeling, Identification and Control. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.4173/mic.2014.3.3 Open Access This paper deals with the H∞ filtering problem for uncertain networked control systems. In the study, network-induced delays, limited communication capacity due to signal quantization and packet dropout are all taken into consideration. The finite distributed delays with probability of occurrence in a random way is introduced in the network. The packet dropout is described by a Bernoulli process. The system is modeled as Markovian jumps system with partially known transition probabilities. A full-order filter is designe…
Assessment of the Usability and Accuracy of Two-Diode Models for Photovoltaic Modules
2017
Many diode-based equivalent circuits for simulating the electrical behaviour of photovoltaic (PV) cells and panels are reported in the scientific literature. Two-diode equivalent circuits, which require more complex procedures to calculate the seven model parameters, are less numerous. The model parameters are generally calculated using the data extracted from the datasheets issued by the PV panel manufactures and adopting simplifying hypotheses and numerical solving techniques. A criterion for rating both the usability and accuracy of two-diode models is proposed in this paper with the aim of supporting researchers and designers, working in the area of PV systems, to select and use a model…
Capacity and Energy-Consumption Optimization for the Cluster-Tree Topology in IEEE 802.15.4
2011
International audience; 802.15.4 proposes to use a cluster-tree hierar- chy to organize the transmissions in Wireless Sensor Networks. In this letter, we propose a framework to analyze formally the capacity and the energy consumption of this structure. We derive a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) formulation to obtain a topology compliant with the standard. This formulation provides the optimal solution for the network capacity: this con- stitutes an upper bound for any distributed algorithms permitting to construct a cluster-tree. This framework can also be used to evaluate the capacity and to compare quantitatively different cluster-tree algorithms.
Statistical learning and multiple linear regression model for network selection using MIH
2014
Award of Appreciation; International audience; A key requirement to provide seamless mobility and guaranteeing Quality of Service in heterogeneous environment is to select the best destination network during handover. In this paper, we propose a new schema for network selection based on Multiple Linear Regression Model (MLRM). A horough investigation, on a huge live data collected from GPRS/UMTS networks led to identify the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that play the most important role in the handover process. These KPIs are: Received Signal Code Power (RSCP), received energy per chip (Ec/No) and Available Bandwidth (ABW) of the destination network. To extract a handover model from col…

Clustering with Terracotta
2008
Masteroppgave i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi 2008 – Universitetet i Agder, Grimstad In today’s java community, modern enterprise application products have more constraints and requirements then ever. High availability, application scalability and also good performance are required, which means an application is needed to be deployed on multiple JVMs, in other words, it has to be clustered or distributed. It is essential for the application to scale out well, has better performance and less complexity during development of clustering. This master thesis focuses on clustering with Terracotta which is a JVM level clustering technique. First I start analyzing the complexity when an …
An MDE Approach for Rapid Prototyping and Implementation of Dynamic Reconfigurable Systems
2015
This article presents a co-design methodology based on RecoMARTE, an extension to the well-known UML MARTE profile, which is used for the specification and automatic generation of Dynamic and Partially Reconfigurable Systems-on-Chip (DRSoC). This endeavor is part of a larger framework in which Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) techniques are extensively used for modeling and via model transformations, generating executable models, which are exploited by implementation tools to create reconfigurable systems. More specifically, the methodological aspects presented in this article are concerned with expediting the conception and implementation of the hardware platform and the integration of corre…
