Routing Design in Wireless Sensor Networks and a Solution for Healthcare Environments
2011
This work presents the software implementation of a tissue engineering image analysis tool through the study of several biomaterials by means of different microscopy techniques (optical, scanning electron, and atomic force microscopy). With this tool, different quantitative information has been extracted from the microscopy image analysis of these biomaterials, as the number of objects, their mean size and the area they cover. Morphological characteristics, as the roundness or the porosity have been also obtained. All these quantitative information has permitted an statistical analysis over the obtained results.
Synthesis of Titanate Nanotubes Directly Coated with USPIO in Hydrothermal Conditions: A New Detectable Nanocarrier
2011
International audience; Abstract: For the first time, titanate nanotubes (TiONts) coated with USPIO (ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide) without polymer functionalization and directly obtained during TiONts formation is reported. The coating of these tubes was performed directly during the TiONts hydrothermal synthesis. After this treatment, in strongly basic conditions, USPIO particles kept their structure and magnetic properties while their size distribution slightly increased. By coupling zeta-potential measurements and TEM observations at different pH it appeared that interactions between nanotubes and USPIO were not electrostatic. This study presents the new design of a titanate n…
Thermal camera calibration with cooled down chessboard
2019
International audience; Calibration of a camera have various applications in computer vision. This process is particularly challenging with a thermal camera instead of a standard color one. A calibration target with two layers of different thermal emissivity is commonly used but reflects appear and degrade the corner extraction of the chessboard. While traditional and commonly used methods heat the target chessboard, we cool it down that inverts the distribution of emission of the two layers. The reflects on the reflective layer enhance the contrast instead of decreasing it. Experiments on various configurations and orientations demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method.
The Azimuthal Dependence of Exchange Bias Effect and its Analysis by Spin Glass Model in Ni0.8Fe0.2/CoxNi1−xO Bilayers
2021
Exchange bias (EB) effect has been vigorously researched for many years due to its possible applications in information storage and spintronics, especially in spin valves for magnetic recording devices. Even though many models have been expounded to this day, they do not prove convincingly the origins of EB effect. We attempt to establish the azimuthal dependence of EB effect with respect to varying the composition of the antiferromagnet CoxNi $_{\mathrm {1-x}}\text{O}$ and temperature. In this report, we deposited the bilayer thin films of Ni0.8Fe0.2/Co x Ni1− x O with $x$ varying from 0.4 to 0.8 by magnetron sputtering and studied the variation of exchange bias field and coercivity. The E…
Steady State Counterbalance Valve Modeling with the Influence of Synthetic Ester Oils Using CFD
2020
This study looks in details at the effects of synthetic esters being applied to a counterbalance valve from the perspective of a system engineer. There is limited literature on the subject of applied synthetic esters and as such limited unbiased sources for information. This creates reluctance against the use of these fluids in sectors and regions with no prior experience and knowledge of what to expect. This study expands the applied literature by investigating a commercially available valve using commercial oils, a basic synthetic ester, a fully saturated synthetic ester and a typical mineral oil type for benchmarking. The investigation is based on both computational fluid dynamics and ex…
Unmixing of human skin optical reflectance maps by Non-negative Matrix Factorization algorithm
2013
International audience; We present in this paper the decomposition of human skin absorption spectra with a Non-negative Matrix Factorization method. In doing so, we are able to quantify the relative proportion of the main chromophores present in the epidermis and the dermis. We present experimental results showing that we obtain a good estimate of melanin and hemoglobin concentrations. Our approach has been validated by analyzing the human skin absorption spectra in areas of healthy skin and areas affected by melasma on eight patients.
Limitations of Quantum Walks and Randomized Algorithms
2019
Darbā tiek pierādīta klasisko pretinieka metožu asimptotiskā ekvivalence visur definētām funkcijām, un aprakstītas to atšķirības daļēji definētām funkcijām. Tiek arī aplūkota saistība starp …
Probabilistic computation and verification beyond Turing machines
2019
The Power and the Limits of Quantum Automata and Search Algorithms
2013
At…
A BASIC MODEL OF INTERACTING SUBJECTS
1980
Abstract In studying the problem of interaction between subjects, an approach which allows us to define in an unambiguous way the concepts of symmetrical, complementary and parallel interaction is proposed. This approach makes use of a point of view within which it is possible to develop a rational model based only on some fundamental elements of set theory and mathematical logic The model allows us to develop a probabilistic theory of change, the representation basis of which is furnished by the 16 basic set functions. The functions represent operations on two partially overlapping sets, which will be called the “worlds”, of interacting subjects.. Both an interaction test that allows a “me…
