Automatized Evaluation of the Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction from Echocardiographic Images Using Graph Cut
2014
In this paper, we present a fast and interactive graph cut method for 3D segmentation of the endocardial wall of the left ventricle (LV) given 3D echocardiographic images. This is a challenging task due to the poor contrast and the low signal-to-noise ratio typical of echocardiographic images. The method is carried out in 3 steps. First, 3D sampling of the LV cavity is made in a spherical-cylindrical coordinate system. Then, a gradient-based energy term is assigned to each voxel, some of which being given an infinite energy to make sure the resulting volume passes through key anatomical points. Then, a graph-cut procedure provides delineation of the endocardial surface. Results obtained on …

EFFECTS OF EXERCISE TRAINING AFTER MYOCARDIAL-INFARCTION ON MUSCULAR METABOLISM VALUE OF PHOSPHORUS 31 NMR-SPECTROSCOPY
1994
International audience; Abstract: P 31 NMR spectroscopy is a recent technique which allows a non-invasive and direct analysis of oxidative metabolism and pH changes, an indicator of acidosis due to lactic acid accumulation in the skeletal muscles. The authors investigated oxidative muscular metabolism of the sural triceps in 10 patients after myocardial infarction by performing a study after the acute phase and repeating the study after a programme of physical training. At rest, there were no significant differences. On the other hand, for the same level of maximal effort, the depletion in phosphocreatinine (PCr) and the accumulation of inorganic phosphate (Pi) were significantly lower afte…
Automatic evaluation of the peri-infarct area of myocardial infarction from delayed enhancement MRI
2012
International audience; Delay Enhancement - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DE-MRI) can be considered as the gold standard for the assessment of myocardial viability after myocardial infarction (MI). Around the infarcted areas that appear with hyper-enhanced signal, there is a peri-infarct border zone that may be an important arrhythmogenic substrate. The extent of this area is an independent predictor of post-MI mortality (1). However, it is difficult to separate peri-infarct border zones from infarct core or normal areas, because of their intermediate signal intensity. We propose a new automatic approach to detect this area, based on a modified Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) and spatial-weighte…
Fragmented Qrs Complex on a 12-Lead Ecg in Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction: A MRI Study
2011
International audience; The goal of this study is to investigate the relationship between a fragmented QRS complex (fQRS) and parameters of infarct size (IS) and no reflow assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in patients with acute myocardial infarction.

Graph Cut Energy Minimization in a Probabilistic Learning Framework for 3D Prostate Segmentation in MRI
2012
International audience; Variations in inter-patient prostate shape, and size and imaging artifacts in magnetic resonance images (MRI) hinders automatic accurate prostate segmentation. In this paper we propose a graph cut based energy minimization of the posterior probabilities obtained in a supervised learning schema for automatic 3D segmentation of the prostate in MRI. A probabilistic classification of the prostate voxels is achieved with a probabilistic atlas and a random forest based learning framework. The posterior probabilities are combined to obtain the likelihood of a voxel being prostate. Finally, 3D graph cut based energy minimization in the stochastic space provides segmentation …
