About time

2019

Purpose The purpose of this paper seeks to develop a motivation-based complementary framework for temporally dynamic user preferences to facilitate optimal timing in web personalisation. It also aims to highlight the benefits of considering user motivation when addressing issues in temporal dynamics. Design/methodology/approach Through theory, a complementary framework and propositions for motivation-based temporal dynamics for further testing are created. The framework is validated by feeding back findings, whereas some of the propositions are validated through an experiment. Findings The suggested framework distinguishes two ways (identifying/learning and shifting) of using a motive-base…

Quaternary Reversible Circuit Optimization for Scalable Multiplexer and Demultiplexer

2023

Information loss is generally related to power consumption. Therefore, reducing information loss is an interesting challenge in designing digital systems. Quaternary reversible circuits have received significant attention due to their low-power design applications and attractive advantages over binary reversible logic. Multiplexer and demultiplexer circuits are crucial parts of computing circuits in ALU, and their efficient design can significantly affect the processors’ performance. A new scalable realization of quaternary reversible 4×1 multiplexer and 1×4 demultiplexer, based on quaternary 1-qudit Shift, 2-qudit Controlled Feynman, and 2-qudit Muthukrishnan-Stroud gates, is presented in …

Sensors based on MultiSpectral Filter Arrays

2014

International audience; Spectral Filter arrays (SFA) is an emerging technology for multispectral image acquisition. SFAs make possible the use of a compact multispectral sensor to acquire still images or video. One part of this talk will present and compare typical multispectral and color image acquisition systems in order to clearly identify differences underlying SFA technologies. The other part of this talk will show the difficulties and advances that we have made at the University of Bourgogne in the building of such sensors from the design of filters to data processing, such as demosaicing.

MUSCLE BIOENERGETIC ABNORMALITY IN MYOTONIC-DYSTROPHY - A SECONDARY MITOCHONDRIAL DISORDER

1993

International audience; Abstract: The thenar muscles and gastrocnemius of a patient with myotonic dystrophy were investigated, at rest, by phosphorus nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. A decrease in phosphocreatine level and an increase in inorganic phosphate and phosphodiester levels were found in the gastrocnemius, which was clinically spared, whilst the thenar muscles, which were wasted and affected by myotonia, exhibited only an increased inorganic phosphate level and an elevated pH. These findings were comparable with those found in other muscular disorders, such as Duchenne's and Becker's dystrophies, as well as in limb girdle dystrophy. They suggested that the abnormalities obs…

N-ACETYL-ASPARTATE ABNORMALITIES IN INTERNAL-TEMPORAL EPILEPTICUS FOCUS USING PROTON MAGNETIC-RESONANCE SPECTROSCOPY

1995

International audience; Abstract: The aim of this study was to characterize the neurochemical abnormalities related to N-acetyl-aspartate which is a neuronal marker, within an epilepticus focus located in the internal-temporal area, using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy, Eleven patients, with a mono-hippocampal epilepticus focus on clinical and per-critical electroencephalographical criteria, were matched with II controls by age, sex and laterality. Proton spectroscopy of a volume of 8 cm(3) was performed within the ipsilateral and the contralateral internal-temporal area and within the 2 hippocampus of controls. Volumetry of the ipsilateral and the contralateral hippocampus and of th…

Ghost stochastic resonance in FitzHugh–Nagumo circuit

2014

International audience; The response of a neural circuit submitted to a bi-chromatic stimulus and corrupted by noise is investigated. In the presence of noise, when the spike firing of the circuit is analysed, a frequency not present at the circuit input appears. For a given range of noise intensities, it is shown that this ghost frequency is almost exclusively present in the interspike interval distribution. This phenomenon is for the first time shown experimentally in a FitzHugh-Nagumo circuit.

Very narrow quantum OBDDs and width hierarchies for classical OBDDs

2014

In the paper we investigate a model for computing of Boolean functions - Ordered Binary Decision Diagrams (OBDDs), which is a restricted version of Branching Programs. We present several results on the comparative complexity for several variants of OBDD models. - We present some results on the comparative complexity of classical and quantum OBDDs. We consider a partial function depending on a parameter k such that for any k > 0 this function is computed by an exact quantum OBDD of width 2, but any classical OBDD (deterministic or stable bounded-error probabilistic) needs width 2 k+1. - We consider quantum and classical nondeterminism. We show that quantum nondeterminism can be more efficien…

An introductive course to some numerical approximation methods for ordinary and partial differential equations

2021

These lectures notes were written for students of the first year of the international Master ‘Maths for Physics’ at the University of Burgundy in 2021, as a part of the course called ‘Numerical Methods’. It was designed for a total of 22 hours of classes. The main objective of this course is to provide a first insight into numerical methods to solve mathematical problems inspired from physics and engineering. It focuses both on the mathematical fundations and justifications of numerical methods and on practical aspects related to their implementation.
