A novel method for network intrusion detection based on nonlinear SNE and SVM

2017

In the case of network intrusion detection data, pre-processing techniques have been extensively used to enhance the accuracy of the model. An ideal intrusion detection system (IDS) is one that has appreciable detection capability overall the group of attacks. An open research problem of this area is the lower detection rate for less frequent attacks, which result from the curse of dimensionality and imbalanced class distribution of the benchmark datasets. This work attempts to minimise the effects of imbalanced class distribution by applying random under-sampling of the majority classes and SMOTE-based oversampling of minority classes. In order to alleviate the issue arising from the curse…

Reduced Reference Mesh Visual Quality Assessment Based on Convolutional Neural Network

2018

3D meshes are usually affected by various visual distortions during their transmission and geometric processing. In this paper we propose a reduced reference method for mesh visual quality assessment. The method compares features extracted from the distorted mesh and the original one using a convolutional neural network in order to estimate the visual quality score. The perceptual distance between two meshes is computed as the Kullback-Leibler divergence between the two sets of feature vectors. Experimental results from two subjective databases (LIRIS masking database and LIRIS/EPFL general purpose database) and comparisons with seven objective metrics cited in the state-of-the-art demonstr…

On the Use of Preferential Weights in Interactive Reference Point Based Methods

2009

We introduce a new way of utilizing preference information specified by the decision maker in interactive reference point based methods. A reference point consists of aspiration levels for each objective function. We take the desires of the decision maker into account more closely when projecting the reference point to become nondominated. In this way we can support the decision maker in finding the most satisfactory solutions faster. In practice, we adjust the weights in the achievement scalarizing function that projects the reference point. We demonstrate our idea with an example and we summarize results of computational tests that support the efficiency of the idea proposed.

A learning model for the dual evolution of human social behaviors

2003

In this work we modelize, with an abstract mathematical model by computer simulation, the processes that have made to appear in the world a strong duality between orient and occident, by combining changes in conditions of initialization, natural system and the opposition gregarious/individualism of the social behaviors. Finally we present a statistical study of the influence of the repression adaptability, resignation and recycling on the ecological destruction and social evolution. This model can help us to analyze if the current capitalist globalization can be stopped, changed or regulated, and if it is possible to overcome it towards a Free Scientific Society.

GHOST: GRADIENT HISTOGRAM OF SPECTRAL TEXTURE

2021

International audience; A gradient-based texture feature for hyperspectral image is formulated with straightforward application to grayscale and color images. Processed in full band, GHOST is expressed as a four-dimensional probability density distribution encompassing joint metrological assessment of spectral and spatial properties. Its performance is close to Opponent Band Local Binary Pattern (OBLBP) in HyTexiLa texture classification (91 %-99 % accuracy) with feature size 0.2 % of OBLBP's.

Spatio-Temporal Saliency Detection in Dynamic Scenes using Local Binary Patterns

2014

International audience; Visual saliency detection is an important step in many computer vision applications, since it reduces further processing steps to regions of interest. Saliency detection in still images is a well-studied topic. However, videos scenes contain more information than static images, and this additional temporal information is an important aspect of human perception. Therefore, it is necessary to include motion information in order to obtain spatio-temporal saliency map for a dynamic scene. In this paper, we introduce a new spatio-temporal saliency detection method for dynamic scenes based on dynamic textures computed with local binary patterns. In particular, we extract l…

View Planning Approach for Automatic 3D Digitization of Unknown Objects

2012

International audience; This paper addresses the view planning problem for the digitization of 3D objects without prior knowledge on their shape and presents a novel surface approach for the Next Best View (NBV) computation. The proposed method uses the concept of Mass Vector Chains (MVC) to define the global orientation of the scanned part. All of the viewpoints satisfying an orientation constraint are clustered using the Mean Shift technique to construct a first set of candidates for the NBV. Then, a weight is assigned to each mode according to the elementary orientations of its different descriptors. The NBV is chosen among the modes with the highest weights and which comply with the rob…

Using Induced Ordered Weighted Averaging (IOWA) Operators for Aggregation in Cross-Efficiency Evaluations

2014

This paper proposes an enhancement of the cross-efficiency evaluation through the aggregation of cross-efficiencies by using a particular type of induced ordered weighted averaging IOWA operator. The use of a weighted average of cross-efficiencies for the calculation of the cross-efficiency scores, instead of the usual arithmetic mean, allows us to introduce some flexibility into the analysis. In particular, the main purpose of the approach we present is to provide aggregation weights that reflect the decision maker DM preferences regarding the relative importance that should be attached to the cross-efficiencies provided by the different decision-making units. To do it, an ordering is to b…
