A Multi-Layer Network Model of Climate Reinsurance: Company Benefits vs. Climate Resilience?

2023

The global (re)insurance market faces a limited capacity to absorb risk, particularly in areas with increasing climate risks. Only four companies dominate the market. It indicates the possibility of oligopoly limiting the market's capacity to absorb climate risks. Traditional economic models fail to consider the influence of market structures, which we capture in a multilayer network model. The model reflects the activities of public and private entities with insurance cover, primary insurers, and re-insurers, represented as nodes forming multiple layers. To understand the impact of higher levels of risk related to a changing climate, we investigate the risk transfer and claim activation co…

Dynamics of a charge transfer through a memristor between two initially charged cells

2020

A charge-controlled memristor model, with the memristive expression M(q) defined as the ratio between the voltage through the memristor and the current flowing into it, is used in the quantitative study of the charge transfer between two cells initially charged with known voltages. Calling q0 the total charge having flown into the memristor since its first use illustrating the memory feature of this component-, we show that the derivative of M(q) versus q must be a continuous function of q, leading us to improve the expression for M(q). Then, the dynamics of this charge transfer, as well as the time evolution of the voltages of both cells, is analyzed analytically and confirmed by numerical…

Finding Influential Nodes in Networks with Community Structure

2020

International audience; Identifying influential nodes is a fundamental issue in complex networks. Several centrality measures take advantage of various network topological properties to target the top spreaders. However, the vast majority of works ignore its community structure while it is one of the main properties of many real-world networks. In our previous work 4 , we show that the centrality of a node in a network with non-overlapping communities depends on two features: Its local influence on the nodes belonging to its community, and its global influence on nodes belonging to the other communities. For this end, we introduced a framework to adapt all the classical centrality measures …

Geometric and numerical methods for the contrast and saturation problems in Magnetic Resonance Imaging

2018

Talk; International audience; In this talk, we present the time minimal control problem about the saturation of a pair of spins of the same species but with inhomogeneities on the applied RF-magnetic field, in relation with the contrast problem in MRI. We make a complete analysis based on geometric control to classify the optimal syntheses in the single spin case, to pave the road to analyze the case of two spins. This points out the phenomenon of bridge, which consists in linking two singular arcs by a bang arc to bypass some singularities of the singular extremal flow. In the case of two spins, the question about global optimality is more intricate. The Bocop software is used to determine…
