3D-QSAR study of ligands for two human olfactory receptors

2008

International audience; All living organisms, including human beings, are able to detect and discriminate myriads of structurally diverse odorants through their interaction with olfactory receptors (ORs) (1). It is well accepted that the perception of thousands of odors by about 380 ORs results from a combinatorial coding, in which one OR recognizes multiple odorants and different odorants are recognized by different combinations of ORs (2). In a previous study (3), the functional characterization on two human ORs, called OR1G1 (class II) and OR52D1 (class I) have been performed using 95 odorant molecules. We used these previously obtained functional data (3) to perform a molecular modellin…

New molecular aspects of regulation of mitochondrial activity by fenofibrate and fasting

2000

Abstract Fenofibrate and fasting are known to regulate several genes involved in lipid metabolism in a similar way. In this study measuring several mitochondrial enzyme activities, we demonstrate that, in contrast to citrate synthase and complex II, cytochrome c oxidase (COX) is a specific target of these two treatments. In mouse liver organelles, Western blot experiments indicated that mitochondrial levels of p43, a mitochondrial T3 receptor, and mitochondrial peroxisome proliferator activated receptor (mt-PPAR), previously described as a dimeric partner of p43 in the organelle, are increased by both fenofibrate and fasting. In addition, in PPARα-deficient mice, this influence was abolishe…

Guidelines for the use and interpretation of assays for monitoring autophagy (3rd edition)

2016

Seuls les 100 premiers auteurs dont les auteurs INRA ont été entrés dans la notice. La liste complète des auteurs et de leurs affiliations est accessible sur la publication.; International audience; In 2008 we published the first set of guidelines for standardizing research in autophagy. Since then, research on this topic has continued to accelerate, and many new scientists have entered the field. Our knowledge base and relevant new technologies have also been expanding. Accordingly, it is important to update these guidelines for monitoring autophagy in different organisms. Various reviews have described the range of assays that have been used for this purpose. Nevertheless, there continues…
