This paper analyses the repercussions of the institutional aspects of co-operatives in the decision making process, in arranging the incentive system for members, and discretionary behaviour among management. From a comparative analysis of capitalistic companies, the paper studies the nature of the hierarchical relationships present in co-operatives and reviews the control mechanisms available to them, with special emphasis on the board of directors. At the same time, lines of action are proposed that favour efficient control and reconcile the requirements of co-operative enterprises with their attributes as institutions.
Strategic thinking and accounting: potentials and pitfalls from a managerial perspective

This study explores the strategic thinking of managers from an accounting perspective. By building on interview data from managers working with strategic roles in various organizations, an understanding is offered of the experienced potentials and pitfalls of accounting in strategic thinking. The results are elaborated into a framework presenting the dual nature of accounting in strategic contexts. This study suggests that the benefits and pitfalls of accounting for strategic thinking constitute a paradoxical duality, which cannot be fully solved, but must be addressed by practising managers. This letter deals with a novel variant of antithetic integral feedback controller (AIFC) motifs which can feature robust perfect adaptation, a pervasive (desired) ability in natural (synthetic) biomolecular circuits, when coupled with a wide class of process networks to be regulated. Using the separation of timescales in the proposed kind of AIFC, here we find a reducedorder controller that captures the governing slow part of the original solutions under suitable assumptions. On the example of the famous Lorenz system, the difficulties and opportunities of reliable numerical analysis of chaotic dynamical systems are discussed in this article. For the Lorenz system, the boundaries of global stability are estimated and the difficulties of numerically studying the birth of self-excited and hidden attractors, caused by the loss of global stability, are discussed. The problem of reliable numerical computation of the finite-time Lyapunov dimension along the trajectories over large time intervals is discussed.
