The impact of media and NGOs on four European Parliament discourses about conflicts in the Middle East
2017
There is empirical evidence of media influence on parliamentary agenda, especially when media coverage privileges conflict framing of reality and negativity. This article addresses the impact of me...
Shear bond strength of partial coverage restorations to dentin
2015
BACKGROUND: When partial coverage restorations (veneers, inlays, onlays…) must be cemented to dentin, bond strength may not reach the same predictable values as to enamel. The purpose of this study was: 1. To compare, with a shear bond test, the bond strength to dentin of a total-etch and a self-etching bonding agent. 2. To determine whether creating microretention improves the bond strength to dentin. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Two bonding agents were assayed, Optibond FL® (Kerr), two-bottle adhesive requiring acid etching, and Clearfil SE Bond® (Kuraray), two-bottle self-etching adhesive. The vestibular, lingual, distal and mesial surfaces of ten molars (n=10) were ground to remove all enamel …
Assessment of non-carious root surface defects in areas of gingival recession: A descriptive study.
2015
BACKGROUND The purpose of this descriptive study was to observe the distribution of four different classes of non-carious cervical root surface discrepancies in teeth with gingival recession. Additionally to explore the different treatment modalities in the literature for each of these defects. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 150 subjects with at least one labial gingival recession were included in the study. 1400 teeth were evaluated using 2.5 X magnification loupes and UNC -15 probe for the presence of the cemento-enamel junction and step like defects according to Pini-Prato's classification: A-, identifiable CEJ without defect; A+, identifiable CEJ with defect; B-, unidentifiable CEJ wit…
Third molar autotransplant planning with a tooth replica. A year of follow-up case report
2021
The advantages of dental autotransplantation and its high level of clinical success mean that it should be considered as a therapeutic option when replacing a lost tooth. In order to achieve optimum results, it is necessary to know the technique of dental autotransplantation, promoting its use whenever the clinical conditions to perform it are present. The objective of this article is to describe the technique in detail by means of a clinical case of a dental autotransplant whose donor tooth was a third unerupted molar. A 39-year-old male patient with no medical history of interest. On clinical examination, tooth 2.6 shows vertical fracture with indication of exodontia. A compatibility stud…
Media coverage about organisations in critical situations – Analysing the impact on employees.
2013
Purpose– This research aims to investigate how critical media coverage of an organisation affects its employees. The authors expect the effects to be similar to the way media coverage about an individual would affect this person, termed “reciprocal effects”.Design/methodology/approach– Drawing on a framework for the analysis of reciprocal effects of mass media by Kepplinger and qualitative interviews among employees of 14 different organisations undergoing a crisis, the authors develop an employee-model of reciprocal effects for the context of organisational crises.Findings– This qualitative research shows that employees are affected by media coverage on a critical issue about their employe…
Gingival recession associated with Orthodontic treatment and root coverage
2010
Many patients seek to pursue orthodontic treatment for esthetic improvement. These patients present with mal- alignment of the anterior teeth. There was strong correlation between the severity and extent of gingival recessions and past orthodontic treatment, it was suggested that orthodontic tooth movement may lead to gingival recession. The principal objective in the treatment of gingival recession is to cover the exposed root surfaces to improve es- thetics and to reduce hypersensitivity. Different soft tissue grafting procedures have been proposed in the treatment of gingival recessions. Free gingival grafts (FGG) are a reliable method for treatment of gingival recessions: An autograft i…
Classification of Gingival Recession
2018
Gingival recession is a common finding in many patients and is clinically manifested by an apical displacement of the gingival margin in relation to the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ). Various classification systems have been proposed to classify gingival recession defects and to predict final root coverage outcomes. Among them, the Miller classification is still the most commonly used among dental practitioners and researchers. This chapter reviews the different classification systems available for gingival recession defects and explores the strengths and limitations of them.
Impact of universal vaccination against varicella in Italy: Experiences from eight Italian Regions.
2014
In Italy, the introduction of Universal Varicella Vaccination (UVV) has been decided but postponed, as a national programme, until 2015, when data from Regions which have already implemented it will be available. Starting from 2003, eight Italian Regions (Basilicata, Calabria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Apulia, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany and Veneto) have progressively introduced UVV, in their immunization programme, with different schedules in children aged 13-15 months and 5-6 years, currently a two-dose schedule is adopted by all Regions. In June 2013, an Interregional Group on Varicella Vaccination (IGVV) has been established in order to assess the effectiveness of varicella vaccination with …
Transient suppression of atopy in early childhood is associated with high vaccination coverage.
2003
Objective. To analyze prevalences of allergic sensitization and atopic disease in relation to vaccination coverage. Methods. A German atopy risk-enhanced birth cohort of 1314 neonates who were born in 1990 in 5 German cities was studied. A total of 943 children participated in the follow-up visit at 5 years of age. Atopic symptoms and diagnoses (derived from structured interviews), total serum immunoglobulin E, and specific immunoglobulin E against 9 common allergens (CAP Radio-Allergo-Sorbent Test Fluoro-Enzyme Immunoassay) were evaluated. Children were grouped into dose percentiles according to cumulative doses of any vaccine given up to 5 years of age (<10%, 0–11 doses; 10%–50%, 1…
