Il saggio delinea la storia di Santa Maria del Bosco di Calatamauro, da eremo a monastero e poi abbazia benedettina, ricostruendone il ruolo nell’ambito isolano in rapporto al potere religioso, Papato e vescovadi di Palermo e Agrigento, alla monarchia e ai poteri laici del territorio, ma anche il ruolo economico e sociale come punto di riferimento degli abitanti del territorio circostante.

Imprimée de différentes manières: The Gallican Confession and Its Printed Editions (1559?-1561)

This paper analyses the first printed editions of the Gallican Confession (agreed upon at the synod of Paris in May 1559) and formulates a hypothesis on the context in which they were published and disseminated. Analysis is based on abridged editions of the Confession in Latin and in French, printed in Geneva and Strasbourg, and featuring a preface authored by pastor Antoine de Chandieu. Although the ministers assembled in Paris in 1559 promulgated a confession in 40 articles, only 35 articles were included in these editions (which are dated 1559, but were ostensibly printed in the first half of 1560). Il saggio ricostruisce identità e caratteristiche della cosiddetta "feudalità ecclesiastica" siciliana sotto il dominio degli Asburgo di Spagna (secoli XVI-XVII). Essa era costituita dai titolari dei benefici di regio patronato più prestigiosi per giurisdizione, ricchezza e antichità (vescovati, abbazie e priorati). Questi prelati, soggetti al diritto di presentazione dei re di Sicilia (e quindi di Spagna), erano membri di diritto del braccio ecclesiastico del Parlamento del Regno e, in quanto tali, anche parte integrante del sistema fiscale del regno, condizione peculiare rispetto ad altre entità statuali italiane ed europee.
