This article consists of ex post methodological reflections on the procedures and practices that I applied in my monograph Politik als parlamentarischer Begriff: Perspektiven aus den Plenardebatten des Deutschen Bundestags (Leverkusen, 2021). The book analyses through 18 parliamentary terms the conceptualization of politics in German Bundestag plenary debates from 1949 to 2017. The book was an illustration of my long-term aim of combining political theorizing with the empirical analysis of debate. However, there have been claims that the theory is not a suitable tool for analysing political debates outside the United States. This paper analyses the role of public capital expenditure in Romania. There were identified two important roles of public expenditures for development in Romania, currently: levers for overcoming the economic crisis, and a means to align Romania to European Union requirements stipulated in the revised Lisbon Strategy. The analysis concluded that these expenses, although with a relative value twice the EU average, experienced a strong downward trend with the economic crisis, so as they have not contributed to economic recovery. However, the role of parliamentary decision making in this area has gradually emerged as a topic for constitutional discussion in the house of commons. El presente estudio pretende resolver la controversia en torno a la identidad y procedencia del poeta Filóxeno, célebre ditirambógrafo del siglo V-IV a.C. Para ello, hemos recopilado todos los testimonios que citan a personajes con el nombre de Filóxeno desde la primera mención de Aristófanes. La investigación ha revelado que existen varios individuos con el mismo nombre y rasgos comunes. No obstante, el examen de estos testimonios revela la existencia de un único autor de ditirambos: Filóxeno de Citera. Participation in the public debate constitutes one of the most evident avenues for political scientists to demonstrate the social relevance of the discipline. This article focuses on two questions: the types of roles political scientists adopt in their public interventions and the potential tensions between their public engagement and the epistemic norms regulating academic and research activities.
