"Table 3" of "Study of ordered hadron chains with the ATLAS detector"

2017

The Dalitz plot, for 3-hadron chains with mass below 0.59 GeV. Coordinates X = sqrt(3)(T0-T2)/sum(T) , Y = 3T1/sum(T) - 1. T0/T1/T2 stand for kinetic energy of hadrons in the rest frame of the triplet ( hadrons 0 and 2 form like-sign pair).

Quenching of gA and its impact in double beta decay

2015

The theory of double beta decay is briefly reviewed. The most recent (2015) results for 0νβ −β − nuclear matrix elements in the interacting boson model (IBM-2) with light and heavy neutrino exchange are given for all nuclei of interest from 48Ca to 238U. The question of quenching of the axial vector coupling constant gA in nuclei is discussed. Possible additional scenarios, such as Majoron emission, and mechanisms, such as sterile neutrino exchanges, are also discussed. nonPeerReviewed

Initial results on energy resolution of the NEXT-White detector

2018

One of the major goals of the NEXT-White (NEW) detector is to demonstrate the energy resolution that an electroluminescent high pressure xenon TPC can achieve for high energy tracks. For this purpose, energy calibrations with 137Cs and 232Th sources have been carried out as a part of the long run taken with the detector during most of 2017. This paper describes the initial results obtained with those calibrations, showing excellent linearity and an energy resolution that extrapolates to approximately 1% FWHM at Q$_{\beta\beta}$.

Spectroscopy of the Heaviest Elements

2011

The addition of modern arrays of silicon and germanium detectors at the target and focal plane positions of recoil separators has led to a wealth of new spectroscopic data concerning the structure of heavy elements. A particular region of interest has been that of the deformed nuclei close to the N=152 subshell gap. Both detailed decay and in-beam spectroscopic studies have provided complementary data on the location and ordering of single-particle states for proton number in the region of Z=100 and neutron number N=152. Instrumentation developments have allowed in-beam studies to be carried out at the unprecedented level of 20 nanobarns. The future prospects for such studies are also brigh…

Approaching the precursor nuclei of the third r-process peak with RIBs

2013

The rapid neutron nucleosynthesis process involves an enormous amount of very exotic neutron-rich nuclei, which represent a theoretical and experimental challenge. Two of the main decay properties that affect the final abundance distribution the most are half-lives and neutron branching ratios. Using fragmentation of a primary $^{238}$U beam at GSI we were able to measure such properties for several neutron-rich nuclei from $^{208}$Hg to $^{218}$Pb. This contribution provides a short update on the status of the data analysis of this experiment, together with a compilation of the latest results published in this mass region, both experimental and theoretical. The impact of the uncertainties …

The $^{144}$Ce source for SOX

2015

International audience; The SOX (Short distance neutrino Oscillations with BoreXino) project aims at testing the light sterile neutrino hypothesis. To do so, two artificials sources of antineutrinos and neutrinos respectively will be consecutively deployed at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS) in close vicinity to Borexino, a large liquid scintillator detector. This document reports on the source production and transportation. The source should exhibit a long lifetime and a high decay energy, a requirement fullfilled by the (144)Ce-(144)Pr pair at secular equilibrium. It will be produced at FSUE “Mayak” PA using spent nuclear fuel. It will then be shielded and packed according t…

Spectroscopic Tools Applied to Flerovium Decay Chains

2020

Abstract An upgraded TASISpec setup, with the addition of a veto DSSD and the new Compex detector-germanium array, has been employed with the gas-filled recoil separator TASCA at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung Darmstadt, to study flerovium (element 114) decay chains. The detector upgrades along with development of new analytical techniques have improved the sensitivity of the TASISpec setup for measuring α-photon coincidences. These improvements have been assessed with test reactions. The reaction 48Ca+206,207Pb was used for verification of experimental parameters such as transmission to implantation DSSD and target-segment to α-decay correlations. The reaction 48Ca+ nat …

Recent results on heavy-ion induced reactions of interest for neutrinoless double beta decay at INFN-LNS

2019

Abstract The NUMEN project aims at accessing experimentally driven information on Nuclear Matrix Elements (NME) involved in the half-life of the neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ). In this view measurements of Heavy Ion (HI) induced Double Charge Exchange (DCE) reaction cross sections are performed with high-accuracy. In particular, the (18O,18Ne) and (20Ne,20O) reactions are used as tools for β+β+ and β-β- decays, respectively. In the experiments, performed at INFN - Laboratory Nazionali del Sud (LNS) in Catania, the beams are accelerated by the Superconducting Cyclotron (CS) and the reaction ejectiles are detected the MAGNEX magnetic spectrometer. The measured cross sections are challe…

Recent results on Heavy-Ion induced reactions of interest for 0νββ decay

2019

An updated overview of recent results on Heavy-Ion induced reactions of interest for neutrinoless double beta decay is reported in the framework of the NUMEN project. The NUMEN idea is to study heavy-ion induced Double Charge Exchange (DCE) reactions with the aim to get information on the nuclear matrix elements for neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decay. Moreover, to infer the neutrino average masses from the possible measurement of the half- life of 0νββ decay, the knowledge of the nuclear matrix elements is a crucial aspect. Uma visão geral atualizada dos resultados recentes sobre reações induzidas por íons pesados de interesse para o decaimento beta duplo sem neutrinos é relatada na es…
