This article deals with the traditional social organization of the Borana, an Oromo-speaking pastoral group of Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. A special attention is reserved to the political role of four basic institutions: the kinship system, the gadaa system, the hariyaa system and the qaalluu. Cet article concerne l'organisation sociale des Borana, un groupe pastoral de langue Oromo du Kenya septentrional et de l'Ethiopie méridionale. Une attention particulière est portée au rôle politique de quatre institutions fondamentales: le système de parenté, les systèmes gadaa et hariyaa, et le qaalluu.

This paper concerns the social elements which are relevant in relation with some important productive features of the Borana of Southern Ethiopia. Recent field-data seem to indicate that the structure provided by descent is particularly significant with regard both to economical mutual assistance and to management of wells, the crucial natural resources. Cet article concerne les éléments sociaux importants par rapport à des procédés de production des Borana du sud de l'Ethiopie. Le système de parenté semble particulièrement significatif aussi bien en ce qui concerne l'assistance réciproque que pour la gestion des puits, la ressource naturelle cruciale.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to explore the challenge of engaging Bosniak and Croat students in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in deliberative democracy within the context “two schools under one roof,” students receiving education in the same school building, yet attending separate classes and following distinct curricula. Findings suggest that group identity for Bosniak students was strongly tied to “being Bosnian” while Croat students expressed ambivalence and unease about their identity, balancing feelings between having their home in BiH and maintaining their Croat roots. Recent progress in developing a feasible and integrated conceptual design of the WCLL BB in EUROfusion project

The water-cooled lithium-lead breeding blanket is in the pre-conceptual design phase. It is a candidate option for European DEMO nuclear fusion reactor. This breeding blanket concept relies on the liquid lithium-lead as breeder-multiplier, pressurized water as coolant and EUROFER as structural material. Current design is based on DEMO 2017 specifications. Two separate water systems are in charge of cooling the first wall and the breeding zone: thermo-dynamic cycle is 295–328 °C at 15.5 MPa. The breeder enters and exits from the breeding zone at 330 °C.
