Until recently scholars who have examined the diffusion of the Italian language in China have focussed on the People’s Republic of China. However, we have proof of early teaching and cultural activities by Italian schools in China since the late 19th century. Most of them though were run by Catholic missions receiving financial support from the Italian government and initially they did not include language teaching, due to the locals’ lack of interest. The reason for this was to be found in the weak diplomatic, political and economic role played – particularly when compared with other foreign powers. Fast-timing study of the l-forbidden 1/2+ -> 3/2+ M1 transition in 129Sn

The levels in 129Sn populated from the β− decay of 129In isomers were investigated at the ISOLDE facility of CERN using the newly commissioned ISOLDE Decay Station (IDS). The lowest 1/2+ state and the 3/2+ ground state in 129Sn are expected to have configurations dominated by the neutron s1/2 (l = 0) and d3/2 (l = 2) single-particle states, respectively. Consequently, these states should be connected by a somewhat slow l-forbidden M1 transition. Using fast-timing spectroscopy we have measured the half-life of the 1/2+ 315.3-keV state, T1/2 = 19(10) ps, which corresponds to a moderately fast M1 transition. This paper deals with the expression of the biomarker hsp70 in the liver and kidney of the freshwater fish Oreochromis niloticus following exposure to the herbicide oxyfluorfen (Goal). Fishes were exposed to three concentrations, the 96-h LC50 (3 mg/L), the 96-h (1/2)LC50 (1.5 mg/L), and the 96-h (1/4)LC50 (0.75 mg/L) of oxyfluorfen for 6, 15, and 24 days, respectively, and samples were taken at three different time periods for each concentration. The livers responded to the herbicide by an induction of the expression of both the constitutive (hsp75; Mr 75 kDa) and the inducible (hsp73; Mr 73 kDa) hsp70 proteins. In this paper, the response of different synthetic models to geoelectrical multi-electrode surveys is studied. The models considered are related to two main problems, which are very common in geophysical research regarding hydrogeology and engineering. The first class of models represents buried walls, similar archaeological remains or remains of buried foundations; the other class corresponds to a sea-water intrusion of a fresh water aquifer, which is generally studied in hydrogeophysics. Abstract— Variability in infection rates of trematodes Diplostomum pseudospathaceum in 0+ rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss under different hydraulic regimes was studied in the experimental setup with regulated flow rates and environmental heterogeneity. The average infection rate in the conditions of the current was 1.5 times less than that in the stagnant water. An increase of the flow rate from 3.2 to 11.3 cm/s did not result in lower infection rates, while the interindividual variability in the infection rate (coefficient of variation) tended to increase along with changing the still-water conditions (20%) to the high flow rate environments (40%) within the experiment. Il saggio affronta la componente araldica nella decorazione del soffitto dipinto della Sala Magna dello Steri di Palermo, raffrontando gli stemmi ancora esistenti con quelli descritti in due autorevoli fonti scritte secentesche. La seconda di queste, un manoscritto finora anonimo, viene adesso assegnata a Vincenzo Auria e datata ante 1668. The essay deals with the heraldic component in the decoration of the painted ceiling of the Sala Magna of the Steri in Palermo, comparing the still existing coats of arms with those described in two important 17th century written sources. The second of these, a manuscript until now anonymous, is now assigned to Vincenzo Auria and dated before 1668.
