Probing Lorentz invariance and other fundamental symmetries in3He/129Xe clock-comparison experiments

We discuss the design and performance of a very sensitive low-field magnetometer based on the detection of free spin precession of gaseous, nuclear polarized 3He or 129Xe samples with a SQUID as magnetic flux detector. Characteristic spin precession times T*2 of up to 60 h were measured in low magnetic fields (about 1μT) and in the regime of motional narrowing. With the detection of the free precession of co-located 3He/129Xe nuclear spins (clock comparison), the device can be used as ultra-sensitive probe for non-magnetic spin interactions, since the magnetic dipole interaction (Zeeman-term) drops out in the weighted frequency difference, i.e., Δω = ωHe− γHe/γXe·ωXe. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt iespējas un izstrādāt priekšlikumus sporta diplomātijas institūta ieviešanai Latvijā, kas būtu visaptverošs valsts iekšpolitiku un ārpolitiku iekļaujošs instruments, vērsts uz valsts attīstības prioritāšu sasniegšanu. Bakalaura darba ‘’Latvijas- Amerikas Savienoto Valstu attiecības 1930. gadu otrajā pusē’’ mērķis ir analizēt Latvijas- ASV attiecības 1930. gadu otrajā pusē, apskatot diplomātiskās un ekonomiskās saiknes starp valstīm, vērtējot katras valsts situāciju un nozīmi pasaulē. Darbs ietver Latvijas- ASV politiskās un diplomātiskās attiecības no 1935. gada, kad Latvija atjaunoja sūtniecību Vašingtonā, līdz pat Latvijas okupācijai 1940. gadā, apskatot arī Samnera Velsa deklarācijas pieņemšanu, un sūtniecības Vašingtonā tālāko darbību. Archives and Library at Cîteaux Abbey: Medieval Writings (12th c.– Early 16th c.)

This thesis project deals with the organization of scriptural productions, archival and library practices of Cîteaux Abbey. We consider the multiple forms of these pratices: creation and increase of archival holdings (Abbey archives and cistercian Order documents), filing, preservation of archives, relations with users. This research takes into account the aspects of document materiality and archaeology, studying cartulary and register processes with their bindings, inventory methods of archives and manuscripts, document appraisal and disposal, classification or restoration, shelf-marks and other graphic characters.

Precipitation responses to ENSO and IOD in the Maldives: Implications of large-scale modes of climate variability in weather-related preparedness

Abstract This research seeks to address the extent to which indices of large-scale modes of climate variability (El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD)) can be linked to physical differences in the local mean and extreme rainfall conditions experienced in the Maldives in order to suggest implications for disaster risk reduction (DRR). While some significant differences in precipitation metrics do occur at the local level between different phases of the large-scale modes of climate variability studied, they do not occur for all sites studied. Use of permanent magnet systems for metallurgical applications have been proposed before. We have continued development of such systems by investigation use of single magnetic dipole which is realized as permanent magnet cylinder. Magnet is magnetized orthogonal to its axis and has been mounted to the side of the liquid metal reservoir. System first was modelled using small scale experiment with galinstan melt. Velocity distributions and flow patterns in reservoir using Ultrasound Doppler Anemometer were acquired and will be presented here. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo tratar el sacerdocio de las vestales desde la perspectiva de la virginidad y castidad de las sacerdotisas y su relación con el bienestar de la comunidad. La base principal del estudio es la revisión de las fuentes primarias y secundarias. Se destacarán las consecuentes desgracias que acaecían en caso de incumplimiento de su voto de castidad, con la imperiosa necesidad de realizar ritos expiatorios para acabar con el prodigium y buscar nuevamente la pax deorum.
