The concentrations of P-creatine, creatine, ATP, ADP, AMP, glycogen, glucose, glucose-6-P, fructose diphosphate, dihydroxyacetone-P, α-glycero-P, lactate and pyruvate were measured in the isolated perfused rat brain as well as in rat brain in vivo. Similar levels were observed in the isolated brain and in intact animals, and the values measured were in good accordance with those described in the literature. Only the pyruvate and lactate content were significantly higher in the isolated brain but the lactate/pyruvate ratio remained unchanged. Abstract Plasma electrolytic oxidation of AZ31 Mg alloy was performed in an alkaline silicate-based solution containing various concentrations of K2TiF6 using unipolar waveform at a constant voltage. The surface morphology of all coatings was rough and contained a micro-pore network, micro-cracks, and granules of oxide compounds in different diameters and micro-pore levels. The coating is composed of MgO, MgF2, Mg2SiO4, SiO2 (amorphous), and TiO2 (crystalline and amorphous) phases. Magnetic resonance study of bulk and thin film EuTiO3

Magnetic resonance spectra of EuTiO3 in both bulk and thin film form were taken at temperatures from 3-350 K and microwave frequencies from 9.2-9.8 and 34 GHz. In the paramagnetic phase, magnetic resonance spectra are determined by magnetic dipole and exchange interactions between Eu2+ spins. In the film, a large contribution arises from the demagnetization field. From detailed analysis of the linewidth and its temperature dependence, the parameters of spin-spin interactions were determined: the exchange frequency is 15-15.5 GHz and the estimated critical exponent of the spin correlation length is ~ 0.5. Using low-temperature (5 K) spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy, we have studied the morphology and magnetic properties of monolayer (ML) and double layer (DL) thick Fe nanowires grown by step flow on a Mo(110) single crystal. Magnetic contrast has been obtained using tungsten tips covered by Au/Co thin films. We find that the DL Fe nanowires, similarly to ML Fe nanowires, are perpendicularly magnetized. Because of the dipolar coupling, separated DL Fe nanowires are antiferromagnetically coupled. DL wires that are touching at step edges are ferromagnetically ordered due to direct exchange coupling. Polarized neutron reflectivity from monolayers of self-assembled magnetic nanoparticles

We prepared monolayers of iron oxide nanoparticles via self-assembly on a bare silicon wafer and on a vanadium film sputter deposited onto a plane sapphire substrate. The magnetic configuration of nanoparticles in such a dense assembly was investigated by polarized neutron reflectivity. A theoretical model fit shows that the magnetic moments of nanoparticles form quasi domain-like configurations at remanence. This is attributed to the dipolar coupling amongst the nanoparticles.
Laser and radiofrequency spectroscopy of the 5d 4 6s 6 D multiplet in Ta I

The hyperfine structure (hfs) of181Ta has been investigated using laser radio-frequency double resonance and high resolution laser spectroscopy on collimated atomic beams. The magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole hyperfine structure coupling constants of the 5d46s 6D3/2, 5/2, 7/2, 9/2 metastable states have been determined using radio-frequency spectroscopy. In the 5d4 6s6D1/2 metastable state and the excited 5d3 6s 6p4D3/2,6D5/2, 9/2 as well as the unidentified 28 182.6 cm−1 and 30 021.2 cm−1 states, hfs constants have been obtained from high resolution laser spectroscopy. A radio-frequency converter has been developed in order to reach the frequency region 2.7–10 GHz.
Specific orientation of dipole moments in azocrown cetocyanine dyes determined by electrooptical absorption measurements (EOAM)

Abstract From electrooptical absorption measurements (EOAM) follows that the dipole moments of azacrown ketocyanine dyes 2,5-di{(E)-1-[4-(4,7,10,13-tetraoxa-1-azacyclopentadecyl)phenyl]methylidene}-1-cyclopentanone (Compound 1) and (E)-1-(2-hydroxy-4methoxyphenyl)-3-[4-(4,7,10,13-tetraoxa-1-azacyclopentadecyl)phenyl]-2-propen-1-one (Compound 2) in the equilibrium ground state μg and the change of dipole moments upon transition to the excited Franck–Condon state Δaμ are large. This alteration causes a significant long-wavelength shift of the absorption and emission spectra, as well as large fluorescence Stokes shift with increasing polarity of the solvent.
