Valence Topological Charge-Transfer Indices for Dipole Moments

2003

Valence topological charge-transfer (CT) indices are applied to the calculation of dipole moments. The dipole moments calculated by algebraic and vector semisums of the CT indices are defined. The combination of the CT indices allows the estimation of the dipole moments. The model is generalized for molecules with heteroatoms. The ability of the indices for the description of the molecular charge distribution is established by comparing them with the dipole moment of the valence-isoelectronic series of benzene and styrene. Two CT indices, μ v e c (vector semisum of vertex-pair dipole moments) and μ V v e c (valence μ v e c ) are proposed. μ v e c and μ V v e c are important for the predicti…

Site selectivity in excited-state intramolecular proton transfer in flavonols

2001

Abstract To investigate 4′-(diethylamino) (FET) and 4′-N-(15-azacrown-5) (FCR) derivatives of 3-hydroxyflavone in binary solvents and erythrocyte ghosts, we used the red-edge excitation spectroscopy (REES). The results obtained prove the existence of spectral heterogeneity of flavonols in the studied systems. The effect manifests itself in the dependence of the efficiency of excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) on the excitation frequency. The electro-optical absorption method (EOAM) was used to measure the dipole moments of the normal form of FET. The electric dipole moments in the ground (μg) and excited Franck–Condon ( μ e FC ) states have the values 22.7×10−30 and 53.3×1…

The inhalation manager: a new computer-based device to assess inhalation technique and drug delivery to the patient.

2003

The rational choice of an inhalation device is a cornerstone in the effective management of asthma and COPD. In this publication, we describe the development of a new system, the Inhalation Manager, which, for the first time, offers the possibility to assess the entire inhalation maneuver of patients using original devices under everyday conditions. So far the Inhalation Manager allows the measurement of inspiratory maneuvers of patients through placebo inhalation devices of the most common breath-actuated CFC-free inhalers in the market for the three main glucocorticosteroids Budesonide [Turbohaler (TH), dry powder inhaler (DPI)], Beclomethasone dipropionate [Autohaler (AH), breath-actuate…

Decrease in blood pressure during continuous positive airway pressure treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea: still searching for predictive factors

2019

High blood pressure (BP) and non-dipping 24-hour BP profile may help to predict BP decrease after obstructive sleep apnoea treatment by CPAP. However, specific, highly reproducible traits associated with BP responsiveness to CPAP must still be identified.http://bit.ly/2LbS4uV

Rho protein inactivation induced apoptosis of cultured human endothelial cells.

2002

Small GTP-binding Rho GTPases regulate important signaling pathways in endothelial cells, but little is known about their role in endothelial cell apoptosis. Clostridial cytotoxins specifically inactivate GTPases by glucosylation [ Clostridium difficile toxin B-10463 (TcdB-10463), C. difficile toxin B-1470 (TcdB-1470)] or ADP ribosylation ( C. botulinum C3 toxin). Exposure of human umbilical cord vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) to TcdB-10463, which inhibits RhoA/Rac1/Cdc42, or to C3 toxin, which inhibits RhoA, -B, -C, resulted in apoptosis, whereas inactivation of Rac1/Cdc42 with TcdB-1470 was without effect, suggesting that Rho inhibition was responsible for endothelial apoptosis. Disruptio…

Bioaccumulation of dioxins, coplanar PCBs, PCDEs, HxCNs, R-PCNs, R-PCPHs and R-PCBBs in fish from a pulp-mill recipient watercourse

1993

Abstract Pike, perch and lake bream from the river Kymijoki were analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) for toxic polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs), hexachlorinated naphthalenes (HxCNs), non-ortho substituted polychlorinated biphenyls (coplanar PCBs) and alkylchloroaromatics of pulp mill origin. In most fish, the only congener of PCDD/PCDFs found was 2,3,7,8-TeCDF (

Laser control of the radiationless decay in pyrazine using the dynamic Stark effect

2014

The laser control of the radiationless decay between the B(3u)(nπ*) and B(2u)(ππ*) states of pyrazine using the dynamic Stark effect has been investigated. A vibronic coupling model Hamiltonian in diabatic representation, including potential energy, transition dipole, and static polarizability surfaces as a function of the four most important vibrational modes of the molecule has been parametrized using multi-reference electronic structure calculations. The interaction of the molecule with a strong non-resonant laser pulse has been analyzed in terms of dressed potential energy surfaces. Because of the large polarizability difference between the vibronically coupled B(3u)(nπ*) and B(2u)(ππ*)…

Organizzazioni del terzo settore

2021

When referring to migrants, the collective representation sees them as recipients of services offered by the third sector and not, in the first instance, as actors actively engaged in associative processes. Addressing the issue of the relationship between migrants and the third sector implies, therefore, proposing a change of perspective that leads to think of migrants (also this rather wide category) not as direct beneficiaries, as victims in need, but as protagonists actively engaged in the institutions or as collaborators, experts, employees, therefore paid, or as volunteers, free of charge.
