First records of pollinators of two co-occurring Mediterranean Apocynaceae

This article presents results of a field survey of pollinators of two Apocynaceae, Periploca laevigata subsp. angustifolia (Labill.)Markgraf (Periplocoideae) and Caralluma europaea (Guss.) N.E.Br. Asclepiadoideae) co-occurring on Lampedusa Island, Mediterranean sea. Fifteen species within nine families of Diptera have been identified as pollinators of the two plants. The families involved are Tephritidae, Milichiidae, Trixoscelididae, cathophagidae, Anthomyiidae, Muscidae, Calliphoridae, Sarcophagidae, Rhinophoridae. Experiences of integrated mariculture in a southern Tyrrhenian area (Mediterranean Sea)

To ascertain the potential for exploiting marine areas for mariculture, data on the cultivation of molluscs and fish in the open sea of the southern Tyrrhenian were collected from May 1994 to June 1995. The aims of this integrated study were to test simple breeding methods for molluscs and fish, to apply these to the practices employed by local fishermen and to experiment with the use of a cage system requiring a low level of investment. Mechanical interfaces are theoretical and computational tools able to properly reproduce the progressive decohesion along predefined surfaces. The Scientific Collections of the Department of Architecture of Palermo preserve a patrimony constituted, beyond bibliographical material, from numerous drawings, prints, paintings, didactic tables and models in wood and chalk. In particular, the 103 chalk models of the “Collezione del Gabinetto di Disegno” are the subject of a study, still in progress, aimed at setting up the new Gipsoteca of the Department of Architecture in Viale delle Scienze. Si tratta del progetto di allestimento dell’antica Collezione di calchi in gesso custoditi dal Dipartimento di Architettura dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo. Tale allestimento, realizzato presso gli spazi dipartimentali presenti all’interno del campus di Parco d’Orléans. I numerosi calchi sono stati esposti prediligendo il rapporto figura-sfondo e la rarefazione delle masse dal basso verso l’alto. La collezione comprende un cospicuo numero di calchi “romani” riferibili, in maggior parte, alla produzione di Michele Gerardi (attivo a Roma dal 1837). Sono presenti anche modelli originali di progetto, tardo ottocenteschi, di parti architettoniche e dei primi anni del Novecento.

Ricordare da Palermo Vittorio Gregotti implica la scelta di un punto di vista particolare per inquadrare un’esperienza culturale e architettonica fra le più significative nell’intervallo cronologico che si estende tra la metà del XX e i primi vent’anni del XXI secolo. Tale peculiare prospettiva dalla Sicilia sembrerebbe costringere questo tipo di osservazione attraverso una lente poco trasparente in grado di attenuare qualsiasi bagliore, definendo la figura di Gregotti con toni spenti.
