A Trajectory-Driven 3D Channel Model for Human Activity Recognition
2021
This paper concerns the design, analysis, and simulation of a 3D non-stationary channel model fed with inertial measurement unit (IMU) data. The work in this paper provides a framework for simulating the micro-Doppler signatures of indoor channels for human activity recognition by using radiofrequency-based sensing technologies. The major human body segments, such as wrists, ankles, torso, and head, are modelled as a cluster of moving point scatterers. We provide expressions for the time variant (TV) speed and TV angles of motion based on 3D trajectories of the moving person. Moreover, we present mathematical expressions for the TV Doppler shifts and TV path gains associated with each movin…
Infrared study of the MoO3 doping efficiency in 4,4′-bis(N-carbazolyl)-1,1′-biphenyl (CBP)
2013
AbstractElectrochemical doping produces clear changes in the vibrational spectra of organic semiconductors as we show here for the system molybdenum oxide (MoO3) doped into the charge transport material 4,4′-bis(N-carbazolyl)-1,1′-biphenyl (CBP). Based on density-functional theory (DFT) calculations of vibrational spectra, the new spectral features can be attributed to the CBP cation that forms as a result of electron transfer from CBP to MoO3. The intensity of the new vibrational lines is a direct measure for the probability of charge transfer. MoO3 agglomerating within the CBP matrix limits the active interface area between the two species. The appearance of a broad electronic transition …
Non-invasive assessment of coronary artery stent patency with multislice CT: preliminary experience.
2005
To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of multislice computed tomography coronary angiography (MSCT-CA) in the detection of in-stent restenosis.Forty-two patients (33 male, 9 female, mean age 58+/-8 years) previously subjected to percutaneous implantation of coronary stent with suspected in-stent restenosis, underwent a 16-row MSCT (Sensation 16, Siemens) examination. The average time between stent implantation and MSCT-CA was 7.4+/-5.3 months. The following scan parameters were used: collimation 16x0.75 mm, rotation time 0.42 s, feed 3.0 mm/rot., kV 120, mAs 500. After administration of iodinated contrast material (Iomeprol 400 mgI/ml, 100 ml at 4 ml/s) and bolus chaser (40 ml of saline at 4 …
The lack of the effect of DA-1 and DA-2 dopamine agonists on the isolated guinea-pig atria.
1987
1 The effects of dopamine and both DA-1 and DA-2 dopamine receptor agonists have been studied on the contractile force of electrically driven guinea-pig left atria and frequency of spontaneously beating right atria. 2 Pretreatment of animals with reserpine caused a parallel rightward shift of the concentration-response curve to dopamine of either preparation. 3 Propranolol, but not domperidone, shifted to the right the dose-response curve for the positive inotropic and chronotropic effects of dopamine. 4 Neither apomorphine, fenoldopam, bromocriptine nor piribedil had effects on the frequency and contractile force of the isolated guinea-pig atria. 5 These results suggest that DA-1 and DA-2 …

In vitro P-glycoprotein efflux inhibition by atypical antipsychotics is in vivo nicely reflected by pharmacodynamic but less by pharmacokinetic chang…
2011
Abstract Background P-glycoprotein (P-gp), an efflux transporter of the blood–brain barrier, limits the access of multiple xenobiotics to the central nervous system (CNS). Thus drug-dependent inhibition, induction or genetic variation of P-gp impacts drug therapy. Methods We investigated atypical antipsychotics and their interaction with P-gp. Amisulpride, clozapine, N-desmethylclozapine, olanzapine, and quetiapine were assessed in vitro on their inhibitory potential and in vivo on their disposition in mouse serum and brain, and behaviourally on the RotaRod test. In vivo wildtype (WT) and mdr1a/1b double knockout mice (mdr1a/1b (−/−, −/−); KO) were investigated. Results In rhodamine 123 eff…
ADCP velocity profiles analisys in the Castellammare gulf
2009
Velocity profiles have been collected in three points within the Castellammare gulf at around 1500 m far from the coastline. This area is characterized by the presence of an aquaculture farm that positioned 5 floating cages in this zone. The impact of this activity on the environment strictly depends on the currents and water exchange. The general aim of this research is the characterization of the circulation characteristics of this area. The analysis of the free surface oscillations shows the typical behaviour of tide forcing, with high minima and maxima during the night, due to the higher moon attraction during these hours compared with the morning hours. A prevalent current direction fr…

Matlab-based interface for the simultaneous acquisition of force measures and Doppler ultrasound muscular images
2012
This paper tackles the design of a graphical user interface (GUI) based on Matlab (MathWorks Inc., MA), a worldwide standard in the processing of biosignals, which allows the acquisition of muscular force signals and images from a ultrasound scanner simultaneously. Thus, it is possible to unify two key magnitudes for analyzing the evolution of muscular injuries: the force exerted by the muscle and section/length of the muscle when such force is exerted. This paper describes the modules developed to finally show its applicability with a case study to analyze the functioning capacity of the shoulder rotator cuff.
Mobile phone based laser speckle contrast imager for assessment of skin blood flow
2014
Assessment of skin blood flow is of interest for evaluation of skin viability as well as for reflection of the overall condition of the circulatory system. Laser Doppler perfusion imaging (LDPI) and laser speckle contrast imaging (LASCI) are optical techniques used for assessment of skin perfusion. However, these systems are still too expensive and bulky to be widely available. Implementation of such techniques as connection kits for mobile phones have a potential for primary diagnostics. In this work we demonstrate simple and low cost LASCI connection kit for mobile phone and its comparison to laser Doppler perfusion imager. Post-occlusive hyperemia and local thermal hyperemia tests are us…
