A catalog of HLA type, HLA expression, and neo-epitope candidates in human cancer cell lines
2014
Cancer cell lines are a tremendous resource for cancer biology and therapy development. These multipurpose tools are commonly used to examine the genetic origin of cancers, to identify potential novel tumor targets, such as tumor antigens for vaccine devel-opment, and utilized to screen potential therapies in preclinical studies. Mutations, gene expression, and drug sensitivity have been determined for many cell lines using next-generation sequencing (NGS). However, the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) type and HLA expression of tumor cell lines, characterizations necessary for the development of cancer vaccines, have remained largely incomplete and, such information, when available, has been …

Hemostatic agents used in apical surgery: a review
2011
Objective: A review was made of the current literature on hemostatic agents used in apical surgery in order to determine their effectiveness and adverse effects. Material and methods: The main search terms used were: endodontic surgery, apicoectomy, apical surgery, periradicular surgery, hemostasis, hemostatic agents, and bleeding control. The authors searched the Medline database for articles published up to 1 September 2010. Experimental and clinical studies comparing the effectiveness and/ or adverse effects of two or more hemostatic agents and published between 2000 and 2010 were included in the review. Results: Four studies were analyzed: two clinical studies and two experimental studi…
Probing Planck scale physics with IceCube
2005
Neutrino oscillations can be affected by decoherence induced e.g. by Planck scale suppressed interactions with the space-time foam predicted in some approaches to quantum gravity. We study the prospects for observing such effects at IceCube, using the likely flux of TeV antineutrinos from the Cygnus spiral arm. We formulate the statistical analysis for evaluating the sensitivity to quantum decoherence in the presence of the background from atmospheric neutrinos, as well as from plausible cosmic neutrino sources. We demonstrate that IceCube will improve the sensitivity to decoherence effects of ${\cal O}(E^2/M_{\rm Pl})$ by 17 orders of magnitude over present limits and, moreover, that it ca…
CORAL Server and CORAL Server Proxy: Scalable Access to Relational Databases from CORAL Applications
2011
The CORAL software is widely used at CERN for accessing the data stored by the LHC experiments using relational database technologies. CORAL provides a C++ abstraction layer that supports data persistency for several backends and deployment models, including local access to SQLite files, direct client access to Oracle and MySQL servers, and read-only access to Oracle through the FroNTier web server and cache. Two new components have recently been added to CORAL to implement a model involving a middle tier "CORAL server" deployed close to the database and a tree of "CORAL server proxy" instances, with data caching and multiplexing functionalities, deployed close to the client. The new compon…
CORAL and COOL during the LHC long shutdown.
2013
CORAL and COOL are two software packages used by the LHC experiments for managing detector conditions and other types of data using relational database technologies. They have been developed and maintained within the LCG Persistency Framework, a common project of the CERN IT department with ATLAS, CMS and LHCb. This presentation reports on the status of CORAL and COOL at the time of CHEP2013, covering the new features and enhancements in both packages, as well as the changes and improvements in the software process infrastructure. It also reviews the usage of the software in the experiments and the outlook for ongoing and future activities during the LHC long shutdown (LS1) and beyond. CORA…
LCG Persistency Framework (CORAL, COOL, POOL): Status and Outlook
2011
The LCG Persistency Framework consists of three software packages (POOL, CORAL and COOL) that address the data access requirements of the LHC experiments in several different areas. The project is the result of the collaboration between the CERN IT Department and the three experiments (ATLAS, CMS and LHCb) that are using some or all of the Persistency Framework components to access their data. The POOL package is a hybrid technology store for C++ objects, using a mixture of streaming and relational technologies to implement both object persistency and object metadata catalogs and collections. POOL provides generic components that can be used by the experiments to store both their event data…
Database to Ontology Mapping Patterns in RDB2OWL Lite
2016
We describe the RDB2OWL Lite language for relational database to RDF/OWL mapping specification and discuss the architectural and content specification patterns arising in mapping definition. RDB2OWL Lite is a simplification of original RDB2OWL with aggregation possibilities and order-based filters removed, while providing in-mapping SQL view definition possibilities. The mapping constructs and their usage patterns are illustrated on mapping examples from medical domain: medicine registries and hospital information system. The RDB2OWL Lite mapping implementation is offered both via translation into D2RQ and into standard R2RML mapping notations.
Combinatorial Identification of Hydrides in a Ligated Ag40 Nanocluster with Noncompact Metal Core
2019
No formation of bulk silver hydride has been reported. Until very recently, only a few silver nanoclusters containing hydrides have been successfully prepared. However, due to the lack of effective techniques and also poor stability of hydride-containing Ag nanoclusters, the identification of hydrides' location within Ag nanoclusters is challenging and not yet achieved, although some successes have been reported on clusters of several Ag atoms. In this work, we report a detailed structural and spectroscopic characterization of the [Ag40(DMBT)24(PPh3)8H12]2+ (Ag40H12) cluster (DMBT = 2,4-dimethylbenzenethiol). The metal framework consists of three concentric shells of Ag8@Ag24@Ag8, which can…
