Background: The vast majority of demographic studies have approached and operationalised the notion of economic uncertainty using snapshot indicators. Hence, the complexity and diversity of individuals' employment careers were largely hidden. I settori costieri e collinari della Sicilia nord-orientale e delle Eolie sono stati esplorati ai fini della raccolta di informazioni aggiornate sulla distribuzione dei popolamenti di palma nana e sulle caratteristiche ecologiche delle stazioni che li ospitano. I risultati delle indagini di campo sono stati integrati dalla verifica dei toponimi locali legati ai nomi dialettali della specie. Si con- ferma la totale assenza della palma nana lungo l’intero settore costiero dei Nebrodi. Ethnic residential segregation in Italy is an emerging key question, which will be crucial in the definition and implementation of both urbanistic and social policies. This paper focuses on this phenomenon in the Italian city of Palermo. We use individual data for all the population residing in the city at 31 December 2011, organized by ethnicity and district. Firstly, we describe the spatial distribution and the residential segregation of foreigners in the city, applying many different segregation measures. W wiekach XVII i XVIII na południowo-wschodnich terenach Rzeczypospolitej znajdowało się największe na świecie, dynamicznie rozwijające się skupisko ludności żydowskiej. Korzystne warunki zamieszkania zapewniały Żydom przywileje prawne i ekonomiczne oraz opiekę ze strony właścicieli wielkich majątków ziemskich. Egzystencja skupisk ludności wyznania mojżeszowego w stosunkowo niewielkim stopniu była zakłócana przez antyżydowskie działania władz kościelnych, procesy o mordy rytualne oraz wrogość ludności rodzimej (Rusinów).
