Grammar and representations: a valuable insight?

In the sociocultural and socioeducational context of Paris Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, grammar is often perceived as a succession of rules to be assimilated in order to apply them in exercises, the central aim being gratification through marks. For this learning public, mostly Arabic, from an educational culture where rote learning is privileged, grammar is deemed indispensable and as difficult as that of Arabic. FFL teachers are facing a major challenge: to design French grammar as a tool for access to meaning, jointly and alongside vocabulary. In this perspective, a passage through the study of representations provides valuable insight.

Nascita e sviluppo della ricerca empirica in campo didattico in Italia

Si ritiene che la ricerca didattica in Italia si sia riavviata intorno al 1950 per il contatto con le scuole statunitensi, per la diffusione delle opere di Dewey e per la nascita dell’Istituto Superiore di Pedagogia della congregazione salesiana. Si ricostruisce il periodo pioneristico della ricerca empirica in campo didattico con il contributo di Calonghi e Visalberghi. Si segnalano alcuni eventi significativi che, intorno alla metà degli anni Settanta, contribuirono all’affermazione della Didattica come scienza dell’insegnamento-apprendimento. Si indicano le principali linee di ricerca empirica in Didattica presenti nell’attuale panorama scientifico italiano.

The first research question is about how three different textbooks for grade 10 presents the Pythagorean theorem through different representations. These representations are geometric, algebraic and textual. The textbooks are Tetra, Faktor and Maximum. The precision of individual representations and the precision between representations is studied. The chronology in the presentation of the representations has also been studied.
