Virtuous hybridization in agro-urban spaces
2014
Sprawl, urban decentralization, marginality of outskirts, presence of high-speed Infrastructures and ecological networks are some of the most pressing issues moved from the contemporary urban context. In many cases, sprawl saturating areas of agricultural land. Therefore, it is pertinent to ask which are potentiality areas like the Plain of Castellammare Gulf (Sicily) still characterized by the prevalence of agricultural land on built ground? This context suggests seek responses to urban issues starting from cultural, virtual and material resources of the farmland, thereby starting the contamination processes between the traditional categories of "rural" and "urban". However both these enti…
International experiences in whole of government financial reporting: lesson-drawing for Spain
2009
This article focuses on whole of government accounts from a comparative perspective and identifies key lessons for Spain and other European countries with a continental accounting system. The authors examine the issues involved in whole of government financial reporting in New Zealand, Australia, the UK and North America. They conclude that whole public sector consolidated accounts are not currently feasible in Spain and that consolidation should start at each level of government.
Using an Object-Oriented Approach for Scalable Flexibility in Manufacturing
2012
In this paper, it is briefly explained how to configure the different resource modules that actually control the tasks of the physical device and put together a work cell consisting of other FMS resources. Finally, an example on building a workcell using a hierarchical approach is presented.
Metamodeling editor as a front end tool for a CASE shell
1992
Customizable Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools, often called CASE shells, are penetrating in the market. CASE shells provide a flexible environment to support a variety of information systems development methods. CASE shells are often cumbersome to use and in practice few people can model and implement methods in them. To overcome these problems we have developed a graphical metamodeling environment called MetaEdit and a method modeling interface to the CASE shell RAMATIC. Using this interface the methodology engineer can develop graphical models in RAMATIC's model definition language and then easily generate the resource files that control the operations of RAMATIC. MetaEdit…
Il Gran Caffè di Giuseppe Damiani Almeyda
2015
Curved Edge Routing
2001
We consider the problem of drawing a graph where edges are represented by smooth curves between the associated nodes. Previously curved edges were drawn as splines defined by carefully calculated control points. We present a completely different approach where finding an edge is reduced to solving a differential equation. This approach allows to represent the graph drawing aesthetics directly, even the most complex ones denoting the dependencies among the paths.
Arc crossing minimization in graphs with GRASP
2001
Graphs are commonly used to represent information in many fields of science and engineering. Automatic drawing tools generate comprehensible graphs from data, taking into account a variety of properties, enabling users to see important relationships in the data. The goal of limiting the number of arc crossings is a well-admitted criterion for a good drawing. In this paper, we present a Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure (GRASP) for the problem of minimizing arc crossings in graphs. Computational experiments with 200 graphs with up to 350 vertices are presented to assess the merit of the method. We show that simple heuristics are very fast but result in inferior solutions, while hig…
Inverse Analysis Used to Determine Plastic Flow and Tribological Characteristics for Deep-drawing Sheet
2014
Abstract The present paper aims to develop a simple method based on inverse analysis that allows us to determine the laws of plastic flow coefficients and the friction coefficient between the material and punch. Selecting from different types of tests, we have chosen the Hecker test, because this test requires a single form of punch, the hemispherical one. In this test, the friction between the punch and the blank-sheet is caused by the blank-sheet strains and not by the movement it makes (as in deep drawing case). Besides the friction coefficient, other parameters like hardening and strength coefficients (n and k), influence the distribution of stresses and strains in the material. Using t…
Disegno geometrico e storia dell’arte nell’accademia di Pietro Selvatico (1849-1859)
2016
This book chapter investigates Pietro Selvatico Estense's position as director of the Venice Academy of Fine Arts (1849-1859). During this period art history classes and linear drawing have been strengthened within the academic curriculum.
