Ophthalmic: Laboratorio virtual para el diseño de nuevas lentes oftálmicas
2013
This work presents a new virtual laboratory, OPHTALMIC, developed with MATLAB GUI for using in Optics and Optometry courses as a computer tool for studying the focusing properties of multifocal diffractive both on unconventional structures both periodic and aperiodic. This virtual laboratory enables students to quickly and easily analyze the influence of the different parameters of construction and find the best solution for a user.
ROUGHNESS CONTROL OF PARTS OBTAINED THROUGH INCREMENTAL SHEET FORMING
2007
Abstract The present paper adresses the issue of controlling the quality of surface in the case of a new sheet metal forming process by which various curved shells are formed without the help of expensive dies. The roughness of the surface which comes in direct contact with the punch at incremental sheet forming suffers an obvious worsening compared to the initial blank surface roughness. The present paper discusses the measuring of the roughness of parts obtained through the previously mentioned process and highlights the factors that influence it. There were taken into account the initial roughness of the punch, the punch diameter and the friction coefficient between the punch and the bla…
SOFTWARE FOR DRILLING TOOL DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING
2007
Abstract The paper presents a software that allows the design and manufacturing of cutting tools for boring. The methodology contains several steps that can be taken only by using the software modules. The main stages are the geometrical and dimensional design of the cutting tool, the design and generation of the abrasive profiled disks, the management of abrasive disks and disk package, the generation of the manufacturing technology, the verification of the cutting tool using virtual simulation, testing the manufacturing process using virtual simulation, generating the CNC files and finally the transmission of the CNC files in real time to the CNC machine tool so that the tools can be manu…
Subtractive versus mass conserving metal shaping technologies: an environmental impact comparison
2015
The scientific studies in the domain of environmental sustainability of metal processing technologies predominantly focus on conventional material removal processes, as milling and turning. Despite some exceptions, many other non-machining technologies, such as metal forming processes, are still not well documented in terms of their energy and resource efficiency. Moreover, to properly evaluate the environmental impact of a given process, a standing-alone approach is no longer sufficient. In order to offer a valuable contribution in the domain of metal shaping sustainability, the present paper proposes a thorough methodology entailing to compare, from the environmental point of view, two tr…
Designing a Specialized Devices for Correction of the Axis Deviation at the Human Leg
2013
The presented article is an original contribution which implies the design of a specialized device for high tybial osteotomy (HTO) optimization. In the papers are presented the sources that imply HTO, the axial deviations of the human lower member from the correct position. This sources are the gonarthosys owed to the usage of the knees cartilages or owed to some diseases (such as the Blount disease) and the vicious consolidated fractures. After presenting the needs to realize such a specialized device for HTO, the principal requests the device shall fulfill are underlined. Starting from these , two sub ensembles were projected, one for the tibial positioning and for the execution of the ho…
Considerations regarding the use of technological equipment for indexed and continuous multi-axes machining
2017
CNC machine-tools are becoming more and more complex, with regards of kinematic capabilities, driving systems, HMI interfaces and controllers. Consequently, the prices of these machines are also increasing, being directly linked with the machine characteristics. Multi-axes kinematic is nowadays seen as the possibility of controlling the motion of the machine elements not only on translational axes, but also on rotational ones. There are mainly two types of CNC milling machines with multi-axes kinematic: indexed 3+1 and/or 3+2 axes and continuous 4 and/or 5 axes machines. This work will present some aspects regarding indexed multi-axis and continuous multi-axes machining.
Contributions Regarding Incremental Forming Process of Bimetallic Sheets
2014
Incremental forming is a process with a high degree of novelty, so this paper describes first of all a series of theoretical principles of the incremental forming process. A main objective of the paper was the usage, as blanks in incremental forming process of bimetallic sheets. So the experimental researches have targeted the realising of parts with different shapes made from such type of blank. In the experimental researches was chosen as technological equipment for incremental forming the numerical controlled milling centre. The paper also present the tools used in incremental forming in order to obtain a hemispherical parts.
Robot-Forming - An Incremental Forming Process Using an Industrial Robot by Means of DELMIA Software Package
2013
The purpose of this research is to present an alternative method for manufacturing sheet metal parts using an asymmetric incremental forming process by means of an industrial robot. This method is based on designing, simulating and generating the toolpath for the tool attached to the robot using DELMIA software package. The proposed approach allows users to check for system collisions, robot joins limitations and singularity problems. After a comprehensive simulation of the movements of the robot is performed, the program code can be generated by means of a specific DELMIA function. The program can be used afterwards to control the robot during the experimental work. In order to demonstrate…
Postgraduate level analog microelectronics course based on cadence IC software and AMS 0.35 µm technology
2021
An analog microelectronics design course at the post-graduate level is described in this paper. In 30 h, students with different engineering background receive a basic but solid formation by implementing a complete microelectronics design flow, following current industry standards. The course deals with fundamental design blocks as well as specific computer aided design tools. This course can be taught, as it is, as a fundamental module in general electronics/communications masters, but it can be also tuned to match specific curriculum constraints, if required. It has been successfully taught for two years, with minor adjustments, within the Telecommunications Engineering Master, at the Un…
