Thermodynamic data of mono-, di- and tri-methyltin(IV)-carboxylate complexes (acetate, malonate, succinate, oxydiacetate, diethylenetrioxydiacetate, malate, citrate, 1,2,3-tricarballylate, 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylate, 1,2,3,4,5,6-benzenehexacarboxylate) in aqueous solution are reported at t = 25 °C and I = 0 mol l−1. Thermodynamic parameters obtained were analysed to formulate empirical predictive relationships as a function of different parameters, such as the number of carboxylate groups of the ligand and the charge of the alkyltin(IV) cation. Sequestration diagrams of citrate and 1,2,3-tricarballylate towards alkyltin(IV) cations at different pH values are also reported and discussed.…

This article intends to scrutinize in what ways Julian’s stay in Gaul as a Caesar were decisive in Julian’s political and military education, and whether a specific ruling style and manner may be detected in the Parisian years of Julian’s government. Relying on a critical analysis of the documentation (Julian himself, Mamertinus, Ammianus, Libanios), the author examines the military and civilian aspects of Julian’s training as an apparently inexperienced ruler but quick learner. En el presente artículo estudiamos algunas inscripciones votivas halladas junto a las ruinas del templo romano del Collado de las Piedras Labradas (Jarilla, Cáceres). Hasta el momento, no se conocía el nombre de la deidad venerada en este recinto sagrado pero, a partir del estudio de dos de las inscripciones que de allí proceden, hemos podido concluir que el dios adorado en este templo era Caesarus, una deidad indígena lusitana. A partir de esta identificación hemos investigado el significado del teónimo y de su único posible paralelo: Caesariciaecus, testimoniado en el pueblo de Martiago (Salamanca). The study develops a simple but physically based model for estimating erythemal irradiance [(UV erythemal radiation (UVER)] for cloudless urban regions with substantial aerosol load, such as that of the Valencia environment in Spain. The model estimates direct and diffuse UVER for cloudless aerosol-free conditions using the LibRadtran model with a DISORT algorithm. Aerosol optical thickness for UVER (τaER) is obtained as a residual term by comparing measured direct UVER against modelled direct UVER in the absence of aerosol load. Endotoxin inhibits gastric emptying in rats via a capsaicin-sensitive afferent pathway.

The effects of endotoxin on gastric emptying of a solid nutrient meal and the neural mechanisms involved in such a response were investigated in conscious rats. The intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of E. coli endotoxin (40 mug/kg) significantly reduced the 4-h rate of gastric emptying of a standard solid nutrient meal. Ablation of primary afferent neurons by systemic administration of high doses of capsaicin (20+30+50 mg/kg s.c.) to adult rats did not modify the rate of gastric emptying in control animals but prevented the delay in gastric transit induced by endotoxin.
