Background and Objectives: The aim was to compare the intra and postoperative outcomes between the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol versus the standard of care protocol (SCP) in patients who underwent radical cystectomy performed by a single surgeon. Materials and Methods: A retrospective comparative study was conducted including patients who underwent radical cystectomy from 2017 to 2020. Length of stay (LOS), incidence of ileus, early postoperative complications, and number of re-hospitalizations within 30 days were considered as primary comparative outcomes of the study. The Patres ecclesiae?s works were a frequent topic of discussion at the time in which many humanists stood against the decadent medieval scholastics. That Juan Luis Vives was part of this tradition is demonstrated in his commentaries on Saint Augustine works. Despite its pedagogical function, the scholia of the Valencian author became quite subjective. In this sense, his ecdotic work or, specially, his «criticisms and censures» can be mentioned. Here, Vives strongly disapproves of the intense political and intellectual turmoil of his epoch. What are the risk factors of failure of enhanced recovery after right colectomy? Results of a prospective study on 140 consecutive cases

Purpose Nausea and vomiting is the main cause of failure of enhanced recovery protocol (ERP) after right hemicolectomy. Methods From January 2013 to January 2018, all patients undergoing right hemicolectomy were prospectively included. Patients undergoing emergency surgery, additional complex procedure or temporary stoma, nasogastric tube (NGT) maintenance, or abdominal drainage were excluded. Failure of ERP was defined as nausea/vomiting precluding oral feeding after POD3 and/or the occurrence of postoperative ileus requiring NGT and/or length of stay (LOS) ≥ 8 days except for patients awaiting admission in rehabilitation unit.
