Il saggio sviluppa una lettura incrociata tra il romanzo di Robert Musil (L’uomo senza qualità), quello di W.G. Sebald (Austerlitz) e il film Toute la memoire du monde (1956) di Alain Resnais per riflettere sulla biblioteca come “luogo fisico della memoria”. Questo spazio si materializza nella Biblioteca Nazionale di Francia che, nel passaggio dal vecchio al nuovo edificio, determina un processo di seppellimento del passato e cancellazione della memoria, ergendosi al posto del vec- chio deposito in cui i nazisti ammassavano i beni sottratti agli Ebrei.

The Truth of the Image Today, the aging of every ‘philosophy of history (of film)’ puts the the- oretical discourse in the face of a vital chance: coming back to draw the experiential relationship of a subject – caught in all its empirical heaviness and epistemological complexity – linked to ‘images’. But how does the subject reach this potential mode of being of the experience? How does the relationship between experience and experience of poverty (already emphasized by Benjamin) locate in cinema itself (in the system of cinema and in films)? How can one gather these pluralities in the image and in its peculiar ‘presence’?

Attraverso un esame dei testi albertiani in cui compare il concetto di idea si dimostra che Alberti stravolge l’originario valore trascendente di questa nozione per farne il fondamento razionale della bellezza. Infatti il concetto di artista come “alter deus” svolge nel De pictura un ruolo parallelo a quello dell’“artista-scienziato”, dato che Alberti condanna chi, dimentico delle regole, confida solo sul proprio ingegno e su un’astratta idea di bellezza.
