Innovative Method for the Transmission of Knowledge in Food Engineering
2019
Abstract Pedagogical research is a way of explaining the educational phenomenon. Through this, it develops optimal solutions to the problems raised by the instructive-educational process, by following the social exigencies. The experimental activity took place between October 2018 and February 2019 at the University “Lucian Blaga” of Sibiu, within the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Food Industry and Environmental Protection. The main objectives were reducing the percentage of students with weak exam results, developing the intrinsic motivation of students, using of teaching materials in increased efficiency, developing active, realistic, investigative thinking, synthetic and clear expres…
Validación de un plan de evaluación de teleformación en la empresa
2006
This article presents a validation study concerning an Evaluation Plan for E-Leaning. A quality validation study is developed from the conclusions or decisions of an Evaluation Plan for E-Learning. All this offers initial evidence of validation, in a global character, of these types of evaluation plans.
The EU-project United4Health: User-centred design of an information system for a Norwegian telemedicine service.
2015
Introduction Organizational changes of health care services in Norway brought to light a need for new clinical pathways. This study presents the design and evaluation of an information system for a new telemedicine service for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients after hospital discharge. Methods A user-centred design approach was employed composed of a workshop with end-users, two user tests and a field trial. For data collection, qualitative methods such as observations, semi-structured interviews and a questionnaire were used. Results User workshop’s outcome informed the implementation of the system initial prototype, evaluated by end-users in a usability laboratory. Several us…
Telemedicine: Economic and clinical evaluation of the management of ischemic stroke
2017
Summary Introduction Ischemic stroke (IS) is a therapeutic emergency that requires prompt care in a stroke unit (SU). In order to reduce regional inequalities and to promote uniformity in access to this technique, which is effective when carried out quickly, telemedicine-assisted thrombolysis was developed in Burgundy within the Telestroke system. At the moment, no study compared costs (i.e. expenditures) and revenues (i.e. funding) associated with the management of patients presenting an IS in Burgundy after the implementation of the Telestroke system according to the management strategy: patients undergoing thrombolysis directly in a SU or Tele-thrombolysis in a local hospital (LH) receiv…
487 The Influence of Inhaled Corticotherapy on the Growth and Development in Asthmatic Children
2012
Background Inhaled corticotherapy is the main anti-inflammatory controller type therapy in asthmatic children. Impaired growth as a result of long-term corticotherapy remains a disputed issue of topical interest for both endocrinologists, pneumologists and pediatricians. Objective The study evaluates the influence of long term small dose inhaled corticotherapy on growth and somatic development in asthmatic children. Methods Observational analytical study on 2 samples of subjects. The study group: 100 asthmatic children with small dose inhaled corticotherapy (beclomethasone dipropionate Becotide 200–400 µg/day or fluticasone propionate Flixotide 100–300 µg/day), for 24 months therapy. The co…
IMMUNOGENICITY OF AN ACELLULAR PERTUSSIS VACCINE COMPOSED OF GENETICALLY INACTIVATED PERTUSSIS TOXIN COMBINED WITH FILAMENTOUS HEMAGGLUTININ AND PERT…
1993
We studied the immunogenicity of an acellular pertussis vaccine composed of genetically detoxified pertussis toxin (PT-9K/129G), filamentous haemagglutinin, and a 69-kilodalton protein, pertactin, in 30 children aged 12 to 24 months and in 80 infants aged 2 to 4 months. A significant increase of the neutralizing titer and of the titers against pertussis toxin, filamentous hemagglutinin, and pertactin, as determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, was achieved after three doses of vaccine in all the children; a significant increase of these antibody titers was obtained in 100%, 96.1%, 93.5%, and 98.7% of the infants, respectively.
A central nervous system-focused treatment approach for people with frozen shoulder: protocol for a randomized clinical trial
2019
Background: Frozen shoulder (FS) is a musculoskeletal condition of poorly understood etiology that results in shoulder pain and large mobility deficits. Despite some physical therapy interventions, such as joint mobilization and exercise, having shown therapeutic benefit, a definitive treatment does not currently exist. The aim of this study will be to compare the effectiveness of a central nervous system (CNS)-directed treatment program versus a standard medical and physical therapy care program on outcomes in participants with FS. Methods/design: The study is a two-group, randomized clinical trial with blinding of participants and assessors. Participants will be recruited via referrals fr…
Analysing the Spanish smoke-free legislation of 2006: a new method to quantify its impact using a dynamic model.
2011
Background: There are many models that study aspects of smoking habits: the influence of price, tax, relapse time, and the effects of prohibition. There are also studies examining the effects of the Spanish smoke-free law. We wanted to build a model able to separate the effect of the law from the pre-law evolution of smoking habits. Methods: Using data from the Spanish Ministry of Health and Social Policy, we developed a dynamic model of tobacco use. The model projects the evolution over time of the number of non-smokers, smokers and ex-smokers before 2006. Then, we compared the predictions of the model with data for the years after the law came into force, 2006 and 2009. Results: We show t…
Contribution of virtual reality to functional rehabilitation
2010
Virtual reality has grown immensely. Practical applications for the use of this technology encompass many fields in both engineering science and human science. In the field of medicine, one of the newest fields to benefit from the advances in VR technology, virtual reality has become a major new therapeutic tool not only in medicine and surgery but also for the treatment of psychological disorders and rehabilitation for impaired person. Our research presented in this thesis aims at developing utilities to aid in functional rehabilitation using virtual reality technology. The main research question of our work concerns the effect of virtual metaphors in learning and training human gestures f…
