2021
The game theory concept has been adapted for energy management between energy producers and consumers in the presence of renewable energy sources (RES) and electric vehicles (EVs). The objective of...
A Constrained Optimal Model Predictive Control for Mono Inverter Dual Parallel PMSM Drives
2018
The actual trends in the design of AC drives are directed to the reduction of the total weight, volume and cost. Usually, this implies the necessity to adopt new motor topologies and converter architectures. An important role is played by the mono-inverter dual parallel motor (MIDP), which gives the possibility to reduce the total weight and costs of power converters. This paper proposes a novel model predictive control algorithm in order to improve the transient performances of a MIDP used for an overhead carrier. The effectiveness of the proposal control is verified through some numerical simulations.
A novel soft-stall power control for a small wind turbine
2017
In this paper, the problem of Soft-stall power control design for a small wind turbine is considered. Passive stalling and furling methods are widely used to limit the output power of small wind turbines at above-rated wind speed conditions. However, these methods have substantial limitations, for instance, related to tracking the maximum power at some wind speed levels, limited variable speed operation and introducing unbalanced forces on wind turbine blades. Soft-stall power control is a promising technique to overcome above limitations and improve the performance of small wind turbines. Small wind turbines have a comparatively low moment of inertia value, and it is possible to make fast …
A Novel Fault-Tolerant Routing Technique for Mesh-of-Tree based Network-on-Chip Design
2018
Due to the increase in the number of processing elements in System-on-Chips (SoCs), communication between the cores is becoming complex. A solution to this issue in SoCs gave rise to a new paradigm called Network-on-Chips (NoCs). In NoCs, communication between different cores is achieved using packet based switching techniques. In the deep sub-micron technology, NoCs are more susceptible to different kinds of faults which can be transient, intermittent and permanent. These faults can occur at any component of NoCs. This paper presents a novel Fault-Tolerant Routing (FTR) technique for Mesh-of-Tree (MoT) topology in the presence of router faults. The proposed technique is compared with routi…
Fault Tolerant Routing Methodology for Mesh-of-Tree based Network-on-Chips using Local Reconfiguration
2018
Increase in the processing elements in a System-on- Chip (SoC) has led to an increasing complexity between the cores in the entire network. This communication bottleneck led to rise in the new paradigm called Network-on-Chip (NoC). These NoC are very much susceptible to various types of faults which can be transient, intermittent or permanent. This paper presents a fault-tolerant routing technique which can route the packets from a source to a destination in presence of permanent faults in the leaf routers of Mesh-of-Tree topology where cores are connected. This is achieved by using reconfiguration in the local ports of the leaf routers by inserting multiplexers as a layer between the leaf …
A new method for forecasting energy output of a large-scale solar power plant based on long short-term memory networks a case study in Vietnam
2021
Abstract This paper proposes a new model for short-term forecasting power generation capacity of large-scale solar power plant (SPP) in Vietnam considering the fluctuations of weather factors when applying the Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTM) algorithm. At first, a configuration of the model based on the LSTM algorithm is selected in accordance with the weather and operating conditions of SPP in Vietnam. Not only different structures of LSTM model but also other conventional forecasting methods for time series data are compared in terms of error accuracy of forecast on test data set to evaluate the effectiveness and select the most suitable LSTM configuration. The most suitable config…
Study of a Novel High Permeability Ferrite Sheet Intended for Near Field Communication Systems
2019
The reduction of embedded portable devices involves a magnetic field interference problem when it integrates Near Field Communication (NFC) due to the presence of conductive surfaces such as ground planes, batteries or metallic enclosures. This contribution is focused on analyzing the ability of an innovative magnetic shielding based on flexible sintered ferrite sheets (FSFS) with the aim of improving the performance of that kind of systems. Thereby, a NFC emitter antenna is characterized when it is close to a conductive surface through an electromagnetic (EM) scanner. The EM scanner composed by a matrix of near field probes that make it possible to determine the effectiveness of the FSFS. …
Registration of arbitrary multi-view 3D acquisitions
2013
International audience; To register 3D meshes representing smooth surfaces we track the 3D digitization system using photogrammetric techniques and calibrations. We present an example by digitizing a 800 mm x 600 mm portion of a car door. To increase the tracking accuracy the 3D scanner is placed in a cubic frame of side 0.5 m covered with 78 targets. The target frame moves in a volume that is approximately 1100 mm x 850 mm x 900 mm, to digitize the area of interest. Using four cameras this target frame is tracked with of an accuracy of 0.03 mm spatially and 0.180 mrad angularly. A registration accuracy between 0.1 mm and 2 mm is reached. This method can be used for the registration of mesh…
A symbolic distributed event detection scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks
2016
Due to the possibility of extensive and pervasive deployment of many tiny sensor devices in the area of interest, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) result particularly suitable to detect significant events and to react accordingly in industrial and home scenarios. In this context, fuzzy inference systems for event detection in WSNs have proved to be accurate enough in treating imprecise sensory readings to decrease the number of false alarms. Besides reacting to event occurrences, the whole network may infer more information to enrich the event semantics resulting from reasoning processes carried out on the individual nodes. Contextual knowledge, including spatial and temporal relationships, …
Extension and Tuning of Virtual Synchronous Machine to Avoid Oscillatory Instability in Isolated Power Networks
2020
The risk of oscillatory instability introduced by virtual synchronous machines (VSM) control in isolated power networks is investigated. The considered control is a common scheme widely studied in literature, in several configurations and for different case studies. The impact of the VSM control on the system stability is examined for the existing power network of a Mediterranean island. The VSM control is implemented within the power converters interfacing the energy storage systems (ESS) installed in the network. Simulations and analysis show the occurrence of oscillatory instability in the system, with the ESS-VSM and the synchronous machines of the network progressively swinging against…
